Action required, being asked to upload a photo id, DL, passport, etc. Is this a joke?

I don't understand why this is necessary in order for ebay to continue sending me my payouts? I've already provided my bank account info, SSN, and other information to continue selling items, now they're asking for access to even more personal information? Anyone know if it's tax related or because of sellers selling high ticketed items? I sell video games and collectibles, I doubt that would classify as "high priced" compared to antique furniture, watches, or jewelry. 

I'm just a part-time seller/someone just looking to downsize on living space, I'm not trying to make a online business or long-time endeavor out of this. Considering ebay has had a security breach, I'd rather not take that chance. Are you guys ok with this or have you uploaded your photo id on here?

You said that Ebay had all this information before on sellers and that is simply incorrect.  So if you feel this is something that is readily available, please provide a link.  Ebay never collected SSNs before they needed them because they were becoming our Money Processor.

Why is that exactly?  There have been no breaches of the financial data Ebay has on its members before or after Managed payments started.  So what are you referring to?  

IDK about the use of the word "highly", but the info is secure, which is what I care about.

Been an ebay member since 1998 and they suddenly ask for my ID - Pathetic! and mind you I am already enrolled in managed payments and have given them my business and tax info.

This is an old thread.  But to address your concern, you need to give Ebay your ID.  They are required by LAW to have it.  You can certainly refuse to give it to them, that is your right.  But as the email you received stated, they will freeze your MP account if they don't get it in the next week or two.
