I do understand how they work. That's why I posted my comment--after working in the regulatory side of the banking industry for 30+ years. While I worked with things like ACH transactions every day, it's really quite obvious others posting in this thread have indeed gained their knowledge from the Google University School of Business. 30+ years' experience trumps your suggestion of ten minutes of "very basic research" on Google. 🤣

I'm still baffled at the conclusion that the only explanation for the OP's dilemma is that eBay did not include his/her data in their transaction detail sheet that they would have sent to their bank for seller payouts. That conclusion would belie the statement "its [sic] quite simple to grasp."

Thanks for posting, and be sure to have a great day, now!   🌞

If you read Post 3, the OP stated that it is not a problem with their bank...I'll paste it below for ease of reference.

Post 3

"THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MY BANK.MY MONEY FROM A SALE WAS PROCESSED AND THEN WENT TO AVAILABLE FUNDS IN MY EBAY ACCOUNT.IT HAS NO DATE FOR SCHEDULE PAYOUT TO MY BANK.I CALLED EBAY AND THEY ARE LOOKING INTO WHY MY FUNDS HAVE NOT BEEN SENT TO MY BANK.THEY TOLD ME THEY ARE HAVING A PROBLEM.I RELY ON THAT MONEY TO HELP OUT.THANKS."

So the OP has the money in their available funds in eBay, but eBay is not paying it out.   So either its deliberately being delayed by eBay (unlikely) or it is not being included with their daily ACH run sent via their bank for some yet to be disclosed reason.

I seriously doubt it's deliberate....but that is only my opinion.   You are free to make your own decisions.

Have a wonderful weekend.

I did not suggest using Google at all...  I said that the ACH process is simple and easy to understand with a minimum amount of effort.

I also said in my original reply to the OP that "The Automated Clearing Bank process is pretty strait forward and accurate....but it is only as accurate as the data submitted at the front end."  You elected to crop that off for some reason when you replied.

I firmly believe that there is noting nefarious going on where its a deliberate delay by eBay   It sounds like a system issue on the eBay side as there are multiple threads about the issue.  So yeah, my "theory" is looking pretty plausible at this point.

The new threshold for 1099-k is $600, thanks to biden and a sneaky bill he shoved down our throats. I had to provide my full SSN for tax purposes, all of my payments were on hold till I did so. It now says that I have a payout tomorrow (Saturday). I will see if that happens or not.

This is the answer ....

  • Tax information: We may put your payouts on hold if we can’t validate your Form W-9 for tax returns

It wasn't "sneaky" nor was it "shoved down" anyone's throat.

If you have been claiming your income on your taxes as you have always been responsible for doing, this really has no affect on you.  You simply continue reporting and just have one more form to attach to your return.

@gorapani  No, its not yelling, it may be emphasizing strongly or the Caps Lock key is stuck ... when Caps are used in a certain way they "can" be intended to be strongly emphasizing a point ... or "yelling" as some like to call it.

Now, having said all of that, I have been drafting for many many years and when notes are made on drawings historically they are IN ALL CAPS.  So, having lettered drawings all my life I actually hand write in all caps faster then using upper and lower case and almost as fast as writing cursive ...

But when it comes to reading things online in ALL CAPS its a little hard ... at least it is for me ..

It is the other way around @mr_lincoln .  Certain words capitalized within some written correspondence is to show an emphasis on that word or words.  But an entire communication written in capital letters is yelling.  See my previous posts with links included.

What?  Most sellers that have a hold on their funds is due to one or more of the reasons Ebay may have to hold funds on a seller.

Payout holds

Payout holds are when we hold funds payable to a particular seller, and usually require further seller action on the account.

  • Registration holds: We may hold payouts if we identify a discrepancy with the information you provided at registration. If your account is restricted, we'll notify you by email with a request for additional information. For more information on how to verify your identity, see our article on registering as a seller
  • Compliance holds: eBay maintains policies and procedures to protect buyers and sellers while complying with applicable laws. If your account has a payout hold or restriction for compliance reasons, we'll notify you by email and may request additional information from you
  • Performance holds: We hold your payouts if we identify unusual activity associated with your account, such as increased customer claims, a sudden change in your selling activity, late deliveries, or negative buyer feedback
  • Invalid payment method: We may put your payouts on hold if we can't deduct your selling fees and other costs from any of your on-file payment methods. In this case, you’ll need to add another payment method
  • Tax information: We may put your payouts on hold if we can’t validate your Form W-9 for tax returns

OR

Additionally, we may place a transaction hold on funds depending on your seller status or the category you're selling in:

  • New or infrequent sellers will experience transaction holds while we confirm that their items have been successfully delivered. This helps sellers become established and build a strong selling history on eBay. In limited circumstances, new sellers may experience holds for up to 21 days
  • Previously restricted or suspended sellers will experience transaction holds for the 30 days after the restriction or suspension is lifted, while we confirm that the items have been successfully delivered
  • High priced items or unusual selling patterns may lead to transaction holds for up to 30 days to help us ensure that buyers don't have any issues with the order
  • The authentication process may lead to transaction holds for up to 30 days until the authenticity of items sold with eBay’s Authenticity Guarantee can be confirmed

The seller you quote is likely at the end of this rule for returning sellers.

One question as I have never had it happen personally so I don't know the answer to this question.

When eBay holds funds...does it show on the seller's payments page as "Available Funds" or something else?

Yes, it will show as "Available Funds," except it will say something to the effect of "no payout date available" beneath it.

Thank You.

Based on this and the OP's comment in post 3, it it unlikely that the seller's funds are on hold by eBay for a specific reason.   The bit about the OP's speaking with eBay's CS and getting this "I CALLED EBAY AND THEY ARE LOOKING INTO WHY MY FUNDS HAVE NOT BEEN SENT TO MY BANK.THEY TOLD ME THEY ARE HAVING A PROBLEM" also indicates that the funds are not on hold as the eBay CS rep would have seen this and told the seller about it on that call.

I hate to say this @mam98031 but the OP's post was certainly not yelling, it was a very, very simple question, they just happen to use all caps.  I had the first reply on the thread and the OP replied in all caps to that but were definitely not yelling ... nor did I see an issue of it.  Granted, for reading I prefer upper and lower case but if all caps posts are too long I can get through them.  I could be wrong in re-reading this thread but there is only one post directed to the OP that mentions that using all caps is like yelling ... for myself, I did not see the need to go there based on what the OP was asking ...

The Summary page for MP is typically accurate.  However there is no special section for money on hold due to some Ebay reason for freezing a seller's money.  The Hold section that is on the Summary page is only for Claims and the funds held in relationship to them.  So it will show under Available Funds but with no next Paydate indicated.

Would the eBay CS representative be able to see whether a sellers funds were on some kind of administrative hold while they were on the phone with the seller?

It would be the opposite.  Since no next paydate was showing, this means that Ebay is holding the money for some reason.  The particular member you are referring to has not shared anything as to why or what the reason may be.  When reviewing their account it appears they are at the end of the Returning Seller payment hold.  But that is a guess as the member hasn't shared much.

As we all know, CSRs are not always right and they miss some pretty obvious stuff.  So it is simply hard to say what is happening to this particular member without more information.  We are all just guessing.
