So I recently bought a vehicle off eBay motors I received an invoice in my email that I used to contact the seller but since I didn't have an eBay account with this email yet I don't think my order was assigned to my account. Just making sure that I'm not getting scammed either, I was also told by eBay post-purchase out of nowhere that I have to put down a 1200$ insurance deposit because I bought the vehicle for less than what it was valued by ebays standards, I've had a bunch of issues getting this car to me and I already paid for my vehicle and put down one deposit. eBay is now telling me that I have to put another deposit of 1200$ down to complete the shipping since it had to be stopped at some point and now it is in a NY border/customs port. I don't want to put down another 1200$ not just because I think it's unreasonable but I also don't have the money for another, is there any way around this? Also, I want to know if there's any way to show that I am actually in the process of buying or have bought the car, so I can receive updates on it and whatnot.

Click on that link and talk to the real eBay people at the bottom of the page. The scammers are trying to get more gift cards from you. They most likely have used the cards already but hopefully eBay can help.

What can I do?

Sorry this happened to you. All you can do is make a police report but as the gift cards are untraceable and unrecoverable, the police won't be able to get your money back.

Another good link about gift card scams. That phone number on your invoice goes to the scammers.

If you believe that you or someone you know was scammed into buying eBay Gift Cards, visit our gift card page to contact customer service and find additional information related to gift card scams.

You didnt buy the car from Ebay Motors, you found it on another site like Craigslist or Facebook. You were sent a fake Ebay invoice by the scammers. Im sorry, but your gift card payments are gone..as mentioned, they are untraceable and nonrefundable.

Unfortunately, you have been scammed. No legitimate transaction begins on another site like craigslist or facebook marketplace and is completed on eBay. It's a scam, every time.
EBay had nothing to do with it. The scammer sent you a fake eBay invoice. And the notice that you had to put down another $1200 in insurance is also from the scammer, not eBay.
There is no vehicle. The pictures you saw were lifted off the internet by the scammer.
If you bought gift cards and gave them the numbers (or pictures of cards), your money is gone forever and cannot be traced.
eBay also does not have a shipping center nor do they ship anything at all.
My guess is it was a super low price with free shipping (and free shipping back if you don't like it). My guess is also the scammer told you he was a woman who was widowed, recently divorced, lost a son in an accident or is in military and getting deployed and doesn't have time to complete transaction so eBay is going to handle it.
This has scam written all over it. Expensive lesson, to be sure, but one that will not be forgotten.

Posting here doesn't help your chances of selling anything.
How do you expect to get paid if you sell anything, since it's illegal in your country to use Pay Pal to receive money.
