So in my usual browsing of parts for a Honda Element, I came across a guy selling a used Honda Element catalytic converter for "Scrap". The auction ended at just shy of $800!!!
So what I am wanting to know is, is this allowed(or legal), and how can ebay allow this?
I am bothered by this because just last year I had mine cut from under my car, costing me about $400 to replace. this is much less than many others have had to pay.
With all the theft going on right now across the nation of this easy to steal and highly valued part, how can ebay allow a place for potential thieves to make a profit. It just doesnt seem right. Making it harder to sell is how we stop this from happening.

Every listing on ebay has a "Report" button, use it to report the seller.

I did. The listing still ended and found a buyer. i dont feel like anything was done about it. I noticed multiped other listings for used catalytic converters being sold. This is why I started to wonder if this was allowed or they were somehow going unnoticed. I couldn't find a clear policy regarding ebay's policy.

Apparently they can be sold under certain conditions and they can be listed as "Scrap". Here is the policy :

I'm selling mine from my Truck that I bought and payed for. The engine went out so I'm scraping it. NOT EVERYONE sell stolen items. I'm sure someone stole a cell phone, TV or laptop that happens everyday and might be selling it on ebay. With your ideology no one should sell any used items on here because it might be stolen. Get real.
