I was recently scammed out of $2000. They used eBay logos as a transporting method. And not being a user of eBay did not know this was a scam. I gave my card numbers to them and of course I less then 24 hrs the money was gone. I read the card back and it states that they are to be redeamed for eBay products only and they must be eBay clients. So if this is true, eBay should know who stole my cards. And they should be held responsible or beable to get who ever purchased to return the items. Or eBay should pay back. They should not be able to go along with this fraud. They are only encouraging this to continue. If some fraudulently uses my credit card my credit card covers it. I'm not out. I believe eBay needs to be forced to be legible for fraud instead of being rewarded for it.

EBay has nothing to do with these SCAMS. The item was not an EBay listing. You got scammed by a crook and sent the person $2000 for him/her to spend however they want. EBay is not liable in any way, and there is NO WAY to get your money back.

Ebay gift cards are like cash, untraceable. You saw the car on Craigslist, right? Then you got a fake Ebay invoice to pay with gift cards,...sorry but it has nothing to do with Ebay.Scammers want the gift cards for payment because they know they are untraceable.

Did you "buy" an Winnebago RV? I recent went thru this type of transaction as well. They sent me an ebay invoice but all along I knew they were scammers and just played along with them. I always wondered if scammers in 2019 still got away with this and now I know the answer.

eBay does not send an "invoice" as there is no such thing. The "invoice" looks as if it was drawn by a chimp with crayons. The phone number on the invoice, when Googled, comes back as a known scam number.
Look around in different towns, on CL, and you will see the same vehicle, many times over.
CL says to not send money.
How many "I know what I am doing" did you violate?

You tried to save three cents and lost $2,000. Be happy it wasn't more.
