Cold Air Intakes and Aftermarket Nonsense - Funding Retirement Plans for Thousands

On another board (with highly objective participants [eyes rolling]) I responded to a post about a cold air intake.  It seems that the marketing genius has convinced people that the factory setup that was developed over thousands of dollars and hours can be magically improved by their bolt on unit.

I reminded several of the highly objective participants that "cold air intakes", drawing engine air from outside the engine compartment, had been an automotive standard since the mid 70s.  Modern cars draw their air from outside of the engine compartment by means of ducting to the front of the car, or from the void between the inner and outer fender.

It is all too easy for marketing to convince people to spend money and then they "feel" like the vehicle has more power.  What has happened is that the factory developed unit found its way to the landfill and someone at XYZ Aftermarket, LLC has had their retirement plan funded as George and Elmer convince themselves that they are the masters of the universe as they drive their 2003 Kia into the local parking lot.

Keep your money in your own retirement account and stop funding those plans for others.  Aftermarket nonsense.
