The new Groups layout

It looks like the new layout is finally in work. To start off I had to authourize 39 photo's in the moderation section. Some of these look very old but I ask you check out the photo albums and see if some of yours has been deleted or is missing from your original entries. Having looked around the new layout for awhile I have found it a bit confusing, so I guess a person will have to experiment a bit and go through all the sections. What I have found out almost right away is that you will be signing in more, maybe because they said in one place or another that other folks could look at the site as non members but would have to sign in to participate, Still looking at this one. They have set the topics up like some other sites where you have scroll through all the pages to get to the latest entries. I just went to the preview section to look at what I have wrtten here and it went into the sign in page and when I signed in I lost all I had punched in, had to use the back button to get back again. Confussion-Confussion, sure hope they get it working better than it is. Jack just went to the preview section and it worked this time.

Jack/Pete I did all those things and it still doesn't work. Must be either my computer, or who knows. I clicked 'no' for both choices and still get email. Now the only time I get emails is when I reply to a topic. It automatically "subscribes" me and unless I go to the menu and hit "unsubscribe" I get email. It is frustrating, but ... Thanks for your help!

...to add to this. I also get a pair of binoculars next to any topic I reply to. Those are the ones I will get an email for in a day or two.

I assume the binoculars mean you are watching that topic. There are also other symbols like a match with flame and a push pin. I don't know how to make these things appear myself but I have seen them in another group I belong to. I'm still computer dumb. B-)

I found out how to post the flame and tack. Another useless feature actually. B-)

Pete. Looks like either the flame or the pin keeps the topic at the top of the page, there have been a few updates in the other topic today and this is still at the top of the page, so now we know what at least one of them is for. ]:)

I think the pin keeps it on top and the flame just indicates a hot topic. I'm going to remove them after this post. B-)

Regarding Jack's inability to post pictures in his album, here's Maeve's answer so far. You are not alonw Jack. There are others: "The photo album problems are ongoing and we won’t know what causes the problems until the storage capacity per member is increased. That’s coming soon, hopefully before the final round of upgrades. There was an earlier issue with old content being deleted but not actually removed from the servers. I will circle back with liveworld to see if that could still be the issue. We are working on the text size from a different perspective. It involves a bit of design work so its slower than the last fix which disappeared with the recent upgrades. We’ve asked to have something more permanent put in place. " B-)

Jack, Try the album now. There was supposed to be a "temporary patch" made to the program that has cleared up some people's posting ability. You might get lucky. If not, Maeve is working on a permanent fix for the next round of upgrades. B-)

Here's the newest wrinkle from ebay: "Bid History -- more proxy bid information. To help educate users who aren't as familiar with proxy bidding, we're adding the option to let members see all the past proxy bids that were placed on an item. In short, buyers will be able to see the full bid history, including when our system automatically raised a buyer's bid to beat a subsequent bid. To see this expanded bid history once it rolls to the site, simply click the link labeled "Show automatic bids" above the Bid Time column on the right side of the table. One thing to be sure of – just like today, the high bidder's current proxy bid is not revealed." I thought the bid history already showed the time and amount of the highest bid as it went along. So what is so different and to what advantage is it to know this information? I'm certainly glad they are not revealing the proxy amount, otherwise what is the point of doing a proxy bid. What do you guys think? B-)

ebay is getting senile, yea the history is there and if you really want to see who is bidding, fine, but if you want to place a late bid it really doesn't matter who or what was bid before you just need to top the current bid if possible, don't be surprised if your top proxy does eventually show in the history, ebay is after more money for them not so much the seller, these days BIN sales seem to be the best option. I recently bid on a Red Caboose coil car, the seller had a statement that the car retails for $19.95 and started bidding at 99cents I started the bidding with $21 as I can't get these here, the final sale price was $35 to a US buyer, I really can't figure the mentality, and ebay encourages this stupidity, ]:)

I wasn't sniped just went to bed about three hours before the end of auction, there is no real use to the history except to see who else is bidding against you, I just included my little story because I just can't believe the price US buyers pay for stuff they can buy over the counter. ]:)
