The Daily Moose

Here is a link to Bar Mills Models on-line newspaper and information station. Art has 4 new on-line videos that you might find interesting. The first two are about Bar Mills Models itself. The next two are instructive videos. One on different types of glues and their use and the other on the new Bar Mills weathering powders. There are also pictures of some of the kits available. Enjoy. http://barmillsmodels.com/dailymoose_05A_05.html

Re: The Daily Moose

There is always a demand for the old FSM kits. Usually they go for 2 to 3 times the release price here on eBay. And yes I am guilty of paying way too much for a kit. I paid $250 for the John Allen FSM engine house, built it and gave it away to the club layout. Original price of that kit was $30.

Re: The Daily Moose

If you monitor things and know the FSM kits always in demand then no harm then having surplus.  You just gotta buy the kits when they are released so you aren't getting gouged yourself years later.

Re: The Daily Moose

I managed to get truck onto  the front lawn/driveway after work. Streets are a mess from snow fall. Got 3 swaths cut with snowblower when my fingers felt like they were gonna fall off or I have a heart attack, whichever comes first. Circled around block and made it into the drieway without getting stuck.  -29 C with windchill... I hate illness and I HATE WINTER!

Re: The Daily Moose

Nick is up at 7 am and get home after 630 pm from work. He got the doorstep and patio shovelled at least and dealt with the garbage dumpsters.

I gotta get some heat going in the garage. Gives me aplace to warm up when getting the snowblower started up. It was so friken cold yesterday. I was still in my combats and didn't have my heavy duty RR work gloves.  Hope it warms up some. At least then I can take my time blowing snow without freezing, and if I take my time I won't wear myself out.

I either need a job in a warm place or win the lottery. Winnipeg can be my summertime headquarters. Move somewheres in the Med for the winter months.

Re: The Daily Moose

Yeah and Kim and I are going to buy a small Hawaiian island when we win the multimillions. Today will be Christmas card day and maybe I'll try to get the layout ready for bringing upstairs. Maybe.

Re: The Daily Moose

I have to laugh at the 'peg mayor and his cronies. newspaper says how this snowfall last week will blow the snow removal budget this year.  WTF!!?????

For those  that have been in a coma...for life...

-Winter has been in Winnipeg for how many hundreds of years?

-Cars have been around nearly 100 years here

-Snow removal obviously came sometime after the cars.

So why is it a surprise to need money in a budget for snow removal in 2013 AD?

If you know winter comes ever year and a by product of winter is....SNOW!!! then budget money for snow removal!!!!

They are thick in this city.

How bad are residential streets?

The snow gets packed down where the tires travel so you get trenches in between the humps of ice. So good like trying to steer out of the groove to get into garage off back lanes, or give a car room passing by on res streets.

Then they eventually come with a grader and scrape the ice on road down to the pavement.

Trick is after a snowstorm, take snowblower and clean the street infront of your driveway so you don't get tench/hump buildup.

PS. Don't vote for NDP.

Re: The Daily Moose

Finished the O scale John Allen engine house yesterday. Now I have to rip out some track position the engine house and then lay new track up to it along with an additional siding next to it. Messy stuff. It will take a few days because I'll have some plastering to do to repair the layout base with the track removal. Hey, this is part of the fun!

Re: The Daily Moose

With it warm yesterday, I attempted tp snowblow. Cut one path and that was it, game over.Left my stomach in the driveway.

I F&^%%% hate this. Had a protein shake for supper as that was all I could handle. Not looking forward to work today.

Re: The Daily Moose

I installed it on the layout today and will take pics later when I have a little scenery around it. Tomorrow I will park the C-16s in it and hope my electrical connections are true.
