The Daily Moose

Here is a link to Bar Mills Models on-line newspaper and information station. Art has 4 new on-line videos that you might find interesting. The first two are about Bar Mills Models itself. The next two are instructive videos. One on different types of glues and their use and the other on the new Bar Mills weathering powders. There are also pictures of some of the kits available. Enjoy. http://barmillsmodels.com/dailymoose_05A_05.html

Re: The Daily Moose

FREEDOM !!! No more uniforms or haircuts or shaving(partial beards etc.) Only navy while on boat can grow beards. Other wise you need to have a rash or something to have excuse from hospital to give you a chit to grow beard.

Re: The Daily Moose

Went to the base today to got some personal files and to let them know I'm not interested in the reserves now that I got a job. Surprised just about everyone with that bit of news. Some knew I was after a rail job for some time so lots of congrats came my way. Some good people there and atmosphere, but don't miss the rest of military entity. Reached a point where I didn't want to move around anymore and wanted to do something completely different than airplane world. So I'm ready for this new adventure and the places it takes me during work. -- Edited by dl85vette at 04/08/2010 12:42 PM PDT

Re: The Daily Moose

After 20+ years of wearing uniforms and clothing supplied to me for work, it was really weird buying some work clothes for RR. All the work instructions said was CSA approved boots and clothing couldn't be red. (anyone know why you can't wear red clothing on the RR?) It kinda felt like being a kid and getting new clothes for school.

Re: The Daily Moose

did part 1 of a motorcycle course monday night, got stuck with a 500cc bike to learn on, ended up dumping it on its side, did a good number on my ankle/foot. Rolled the foot/ankle sideways. Luckily I didn't break it, must have just stretch the tendons, because I could still walk (carefully) luckily the next day I could still walk...gingerly. hurt like hell if I stepped on a chunk of gravel. Probably what saved me was it happened in evening so it had overnight of no movement and I was in class all day so minimum time on feet. Today my ankle feels a lot better and looser. I got one day of class, off until sunday evening. so I should be ready to tackle steping on ballast by monday. I called today to cancel course tonite, I just told them I started a new job and can't get out in time, and I don't care that they can't reschedule and that I don't get a refund either. my health (which job depends on) and Job are more important. If i reinjured this same foot that is still healing I would be screwed. So I can't chance it. Waited a year for this opportunity, I can't lose it do a lifetime disability, live without a motorcycle license (maybe for life) I could deal with. I know I was only learning but it was a reality check. scooter is one thing, safely handling a big bike is another. still got the vette that does rediculous speeds.

Re: The Daily Moose

Canceling the motorcycle class sounds like a good move, considering. Charles

Re: The Daily Moose

It's funny you know, I used to ride big Honda's and Harley's and a really smick 500 single AJS featherbed frame in my early days and fell off a mates 250 Honda repeatedly, gave up trying, really there is nothing quite like bugs in the teeth. ]:)
