The Daily Moose

Here is a link to Bar Mills Models on-line newspaper and information station. Art has 4 new on-line videos that you might find interesting. The first two are about Bar Mills Models itself. The next two are instructive videos. One on different types of glues and their use and the other on the new Bar Mills weathering powders. There are also pictures of some of the kits available. Enjoy. http://barmillsmodels.com/dailymoose_05A_05.html

Re: The Daily Moose

Re: The Daily Moose

Since finally getting to see in person the big BNSF SD70 unit coal trains in Gillette ,WY, I am full of much needed motivation to work on layout. I did some plaster work on mountain for lime mine. Along with the mentioned loco painting.

I know I've been absent alot from this group, along with other things, lately. My son left Texas and is in Kuwait until early next week when he heads to Iraq. He won't be in too bad of an area, just the traveling to & from will be the most dangerous for now. He was able to call me today and that was great for this worried mom. Like he says, he is almost a quarter of the way done with this deployment and we are counting the days til he is home! I hope to get back into life now. I surprised myself on how ok I am doing but I have discovered that if I manage my time and keep busy with new things, time goes by better. Besides, I sure have alot of booze to drink before he gets home! I have no more room in my cellar for what I am brewing so I have to keep making room. Life is good! (oh and I got another bottle of Absinthe from my traveling buddy! Wow, that stuff puts hair on the chest!)

Re: The Daily Moose

NAPA had a fit it in the paper bag and get 25% off. So I got a $52 toolbox for 39 so either my kid or my nephew gets that for xmas. I got a 25 pc screwdriver set for myself for $27. They had nicer handles on them so I will give one of the above children my old Crappy Tire Mastercraft set. The NAPA guys didn't care about the paper bag part.I asked one guy about the toolbox and then got it and asked another guy about the screwdrivers. He asked the other guy if they were on sale , and he said why not. They had sold a $2000 toolchest for $500 off for the sale. Regular tools on wall display weren't on sale though. So that is why I didn't walk out with more stuff for me.

Re: The Daily Moose

Went to a train show in the city today. They had RR groups (NTrak, etc) plus few shops with displays, selling stuff and collectors selling stuff. I did didn't go with money so I didn't buy anything. Nor was I disappointed. I could have probably picked up a couple cars but I don't think there was anything that I couldn't find again. Some tables were selling N boxcars for 10 bucks so not a great deal if used. Another table had N locos for 40-60 bucks. Wasn't a waste going to. I just wanted to check it out moreso than to buy anything. Ran into a few people I have met in LHS such as a RR photographer, salesman from a different LHS that also works on the Prarie Dog Central tour train. Ntrak guys had their Tshirts and vests with their RR badges on them. They May be representing a club but I am not dressing up in a club vest looking like a boyscout with RR emblems/patches. Hence I am not a member also for other reasons that conflict with my life. It is neat to be able to see venues like this to even just pass the morning. couldn't do neat things like this in the valley.

Currently working on Rusty Wallace #2 Pontiac (early 90's) Miller nascar. Also have a 2006 Monte Carlo on the car, not sure if it will be Kevin Harvick's Gretchin Wilson nascar or Dale Jr #8 Budweiser.

Took in the big annual NYS Fair train show. Bought a few scenic things picked up a new z track connection for the power pack saw a bunch of layouts from G to Z Scale. determined that if I were going to do a Christmas tree layout again it would be O or G scale. That way I wouldn't have to get down on the floor so far so often. Also the grandkids could run and rerail the train. Picked up some wooden track for the Grandkids thomas the tank layout. They keep rearranging sections and end up not having the right sections to finish connections. Most of what I bought are short lengths of track that can't be found anywhere. It was not officially TTT licensed stuff but work just the same and much cheaper! Bought some last year but now they can make the various connections using the short connectors. Some have two female (I guess you could call them) ends and some have two male ends, we've ended before with two female ends together and no double male ended pieces to connect them now we have them. I am hopping to fashion an up and over section as they want an expansion to their layout and the only way that's going to happen is if they (we) go upward. Not willing to add onto their layout. Gene

Re: The Daily Moose

I've been married for 39 years today, guess what the excitement for the day has been, I played trains for a while and then watched TV for a while, couldn't even afford to go out for dinner, maybe next year. ]:)
