The Daily Moose

Here is a link to Bar Mills Models on-line newspaper and information station. Art has 4 new on-line videos that you might find interesting. The first two are about Bar Mills Models itself. The next two are instructive videos. One on different types of glues and their use and the other on the new Bar Mills weathering powders. There are also pictures of some of the kits available. Enjoy. http://barmillsmodels.com/dailymoose_05A_05.html

Re: The Daily Moose

John, Try this. Go tp "My Groups" at the left and click on it. In the list of your groups, check the box at the right side to not receive email. Then go to "My content" and click on it. In the bottom section the is a part called "Subscriptions". Choose the "Do not receive mail" option. Also be sure you are not "watching" any topics. Hope this helps. Pete

Re: The Daily Moose

Got my bathroon vanity all built and installed and surrounding area prepped for measurements. Tile company came this A.M to take measurements for the granite counter top. So it will be cut up and installed march 18. After that I can finish my tiling.(maybe a tile saw will go on sale y then.) I can rent one but by owning one I can go at my own speed without costing a fortune. Hind site from when we did th bulk of the tiling last spring, I should have bought one then form home depot. the rental for few days was half the saw's cost. Plus someday when I hope to do the kitchen over, I will do my own tiling for the backsplash so owning a saw would pay itself off eventually. (maybe sell the saw then as I won't require it as tiling in house would be complete.) Haven't heard from Dot so she must be knee deep in house reno stuff too.

Dave, Glad to hear about your wanting to invest in that tile saw. I love ours! Not only when tiling projects come up and the money it saves us, but also when I do some small craft project that only requires a few tiles. I can cut them myself and the job is finished quicker than waiting to get them cut. So far the kitchen has all been tiled, from the backsplash, counter & floor so I think it is already paid for. Like you said, by the time you pay for the rental fees, you might as well buy one! It can always be sold if storing it is a problem. No improvements here until the tax man finishes up in our town. They are doing the 10 year update, so until they get to our house, nothing that will make the value higher will be started. I haven't been on here much as I was pretty sick. Now that the meds have finally kicked in, I will try to be more involved. I did try to check in most every day, but usually didn't finish reading the threads as I got too tired. All is better now. PS The wine is going well. I can hardly wait to start drinking some of it! I have 2 finished and aging and 3 in some stage right now. I will wait til they age as I tried them when I bottled them and they were too "young" for my taste. I even built a temporary storage area for the bottled stuff. I made it out of 2 x 4 's and some molding. I had a huge pile of USPS mailing tubes and cut them in 3's and used them for the bottles for now. I can probably fit about 70+ in it and I have some of the bottled wine in cases on there sides for now. Hopefully it will all fit until I can do it properly. Again, that will wait until the tax man is finished! -- Edited by crazyd37 at 02/29/2008 2:47 PM PST

Re: The Daily Moose

Good to hear from ya Dot. Glad you're enjoying the wine making process. I gotta start that in the next couple days. I am 5 months behond due to being away. My buddy & I would like to get 5 or batches in by end of May. I dont like making wine in late spring/summer as lots of other things to keep busy at. There is a chain store in Canada called Princess Auto and they sell everything form little bit of surplus to hydraulics, farm tools, carpenter/mechanic tools, air tools, compressors, welders, you name it. Any hoo they have a tile table saw that looks identical to Home Depot's excpet it is $64 versus HD at $150.

Re: The Daily Moose

I saw a pair of BNSF swoosh logo pumpkin locos roll into winnipeg CP yard. ALmost missed photo op as I saw them as I approached an intesection and camera not ready,etc.. so I had to drive around streets around yard perimeter hoping I didn't miss it. Ended up finding a jackpot. drive down scuzzy neighborhood street/deadend, park, climb up a sledding hill and entire loco facilty yard in view (I never ever thought of finding this vantage point) so I snapped away. even spotted a green/gray loco like FURX but different # on it. I'll post pics later on..

Re: The Daily Moose

Barry received a package I sent on the 28th today. That makes 8 days for half way around the world. Trouble is I sent it expresspost at a high cost. That's the only way I can get tracking and insurance to OZ.

Re: The Daily Moose

I mailed Barry's package air mail 2 days after mailing other auctions and now I got buddy in Georgia emailing me for status on the parcel. Status: Package mailed. Went surface so no tracking #.

Re: The Daily Moose

The day is shot but I got lots done around here. Finished my bookshelf and moved all my magazines over, started up the car and moved it out of garage while I changed the truck's oil. Swept out the last 2 month's sawdust in garage. And I think I fixed the leak in sink plumbing.

Re: The Daily Moose

While not progress to layout I did do a bit of room pogress while being on standby to be deployed (not to middle est though. standby back to normal somewhat as far as back to work but I am on some owed time off) anyhoo, I built the last window box frame for the trainroom. Just gotta install the trim aorund it. Also picked up a box of peel and stick floor tile from Home Depot that was marked down. So for 18 bucks I did a third of trainroom. Not sure If I will do the rest as the layout is in the way. I mostly wanted to do my workdesk area so it would be cleaner (looking) than painted/peeling cement floor. Plus make it easier if part dropped on floor. Tat part of room lokks night and day. Should have done the whole floor when I moved in but no biggee. I will put in carpet runners for layout area as it is cushioning to stand on versus bared/vinyl tiles.
