who you callin idiots DOH! so wasn't it the plaster that made the last one too heavy, I still reckon removable scenery for a movable layout is the go or else build it like a Ntrak set up, two halves that are joinable. ]:)

Make it a florida themed layout. Green!! with a salt stained train with snow on the top to simulate the Cdn snowbirds going south. I guess if it is to be a christmas tree layout then snow would be a good start. don't forgot reindeer poo in the fpasture. You could make little snowmen and a scene of kids throwing snowballs at cars. Maybe Chevy Chase sliding down a hill in his cooking oil lubricated saucer sled. And cousing Eddy with his winnibago empty the sh*tter in the storm sewer.

Barry, WS says that the full 4x8 layout weighs less than 25 pounds when built with all the scenery and track in place. I'm cutting it down in size so it should be even lighter. The old layout was over 100 pounds with all the wood framing, plywood and masonite fascia. You idjot! Dave, Lived in Fl for 10 years and hated it. Too damp all the time. The layout would get moldy! Yuck! Maybe a Christmas in Arizona would be better. Less scenery except for sand, rocks and cacti with little snow caps on them. Moose or elk could double as reindeer too. Actually I'm still leaning toward the lots of pine trees (I have thousands of them) with snow covering them on a field of rolling white (plaster) hills theme. I also have lots of white ceiling paint left over which could be used to paint the plaster before I dumped the fake snow down on the wet surface. You know. Zip texture. Right now I'm still debating on one or two tracks. I have to experiment with the sound system to see if I can make it work with the dual power pack. Decisions, decisions, decisions....... B-)

Cut it into two equal pieces with a circle cutout for the tree stand. Then all you have to carry is one lighter piece at a time. Gene

I know, put a three foot tree up on a stand in the basement window and then use the existing layout with a snow train. decorate an outside front of the house tree with lights in the shape of a pine tree, pipe out train sounds outside and voila! Gene

I actually got a bit more done to the Project Willys this weekend, the front clip is in silver base ready for the red, all the decals are now here, I got the gold leaf decals I wanted from Slikk and some 1/18 sponsor decals from the states, it will be finished soon I hope. ]:)

Almost done of my Rusty Wallace #2 MDG nascar. WILL be done tomorrow and delivered to LHS for display (bring one of my other cars home from there.) get some shots before I take it out there.

Project Willys is now all painted Brandywine red and looks fantastic even if I do say so, I will post a photo as soon as I can put the body back together, I don't want to touch anthing until it is completely dry, I suppose I will have to leave it for about a week before decalling, I hit it with two coats of auto clear and it looks incredibly deep, hope it stays that way when it is finished ]:)

Barry, On my Helmstetter part 7a you may find the audio from the third video interesting. WMSR 734 a 2-8-0 has a quite an irregular cadence to its steam chuff. Are they going to need to do some heavy maintenance during the break this winter? All the best, Charles

definitely sounds like at least one cylinder needs a rebuild, I'd say a good overhaul is in order, you take some very nice pics Charles, I'd love to be able to join you some weekend. ]:)
