Progress report #2

I locked the other thread. There is some good stuff in there that probably has been reposted in other threads. I'll check. In the meantime, here's another place to write. B-)

Re: Progress report #2

Dave Try helveticarr for decals, he does the TTX well car decals for the 40' rebuilt five pack, I bought from him and although the decals are a bit more fiddly than Micro Scale, they finish great, I had a look on his web site (google) and have asked him if he can supply some of the trailer decals he has used on his trailers. The brewery trailer decals I bought are made on very thick decal film and are for Coors and Budweiser, they really are c r a p but I tried and failed twice, I am just looking for anything to go on several trailers that I was going to do for GTI but in their infinite wisdom M/S discontinued them like so many other N scale decals, check the site and see just how many decals for N are now not available, BTW if you still want the new Saskatchewen hopper decals, Helveticarr is showing several on his site, could be worth a look if your interested. ]:)

Re: Progress report #2

Dave Open the site where it says decaled trailers, then it shows a list of stuff to the left of the page, open freight cars and scroll to the bottom of the page, his paint is a bit darker and looks a bit thick but the decals look right on. ]:)

I'm missing something Barry, 'cause I don't see that. I don't see a link for trailers. If you can find it, copy and paste the address please.

Re: Progress report #2

OK Dave The way I did it was, go to google, type in helveticarr, hit search, first page comes up with two listings for helvetica then the helveticarr listing has three icons to open, 1 engines 2 decals 3 trash spine cars, open decals, when it opens it has a diagram of a container crane and the wording under is N Models I have built, open this and on the left of the page is four or five listings, open the Freight car list and almost at the bottom of the page is the SASK hoppers, hopefully you can get in this time, let us know. ]:)

Re: Progress report #2

Roland Rusche....helveticarr@aol.com you could mention me I suppose as I have done some dealing with him already. ]:) -- Edited by barrysfp45 at 03/24/2009 7:19 PM PDT

Re: Progress report #2

Well after spending several days fiddling with my GP60M and congratulating myself on the marvelous modifications and repaint, I was looking at an old N scale magazine and saw the Atlas SD60M for Union Pacific has the headlights in the nose, I have now ordered two new cabs from Atlas and with a little strategic cutting will ultimately end up with a much more recognisable rendition of a GP60M at least I hope I will, I will post before and after pics as soon as the ordered parts arrive. ]:)

Re: Progress report #2

I actually did it! I spent the whole day Easter Sunday in the dungeon laying track and reconfiguring some switches. Then I ran trains for about an hour. I have created a new route for the trains to travel and am more pleased with it. Now I have to get back to buildings that I have started but not finished. B-)

Re: Progress report #2

All the Atlas bits and pieces arrived today, should be able to start the rebuild over the weekend I think, I forgot just how small the details are and I have to remove the nose door from the right and refit it to the left, MMMMMMMMMMM fun. ]:)

Re: Progress report #2

Dave Did you get in touch with Roland about the Sask hopper decals, he emailed me today with a list of all the trailer decals he can print, the new Knight refrigerated trailer decals look very interesting, I think my 40' frig trailer will be very good with that design on it. ]:)
