I really have to get back to the basement. It's so darn cold down there though. I have about four projects in the middle of work. Maybe I should finish just one to get out of this slump. B-)

If it was cooler here I might be able to get some painting done and then a bit of decaling, to hot to do anything other than watch the trains for a few minutes then back in front of the idiot box in front of the air conditioning, nearly too hot at night to get any sleep, what is wrong with this planet just now. ]:)

Barry, I have an idea. Why don't you put air conditioning in the train shed and I'll put a heater in the dungeon. What will I think of next.....]:)

I have AC in the train room, I don't have AC in the work shop where the compressor is, it's a bit big to be able to have AC in a five car shop, it has even been too hot to get in the pool, the water is nice but the overhead heat is too unbearable, it is starting finally to be in the mid 30s during the day, maybe I'm in a slump too. ]:)

30's? It's been in the teens here and going to go to zero tomorrow. Supposed to be in the 40's on Friday. You must mean Celsius we on the mainland use F for too f and cold!!

Yep we live under the celsius banner, works out roughly to double plus 28 for Farenheit so mid 30s is getting toward 100F for too fnhot

Barry, Nothing wrong, just your half of the planet is pointing to the sun right now! 😛 We even got a few inches of snow a couple days ago, I kind-a hate to see winter go, I like the cooler weather, although maybe not as cool as Pete! So I guess it is obvious for now, Pete is way cooler than me and Barry is really hot... In the middle, Charles Charles has been talking to our wives I guess, huh,Barry. Actually been good here. Windchill in the the -30s ended last saturday. Last couple days actually is hovering around the -2 C mark. A friend asked me to strip and paint two UP GP20s into MKT red and white scheme, we know they never existed but it is what he fancys, I couldn't find the right red so went with Santa Fe red I have for the two FP45s I did in warbonnet, I decided the GP60M I did a while back was looking a bit ordinary so stripped it and repainted it while I was at it, did a little modification in the process, it now has three side windows instead of the four and I removed the belt line from under the windows, I looked at moving the headlights from the roof to the nose but as the front doorway is on the wrong side I decided against the mod, now it is looking like a very new engine, marvelous what a bit of paint and fiddling does. BTW I missed the I/M undec hoppers so bought a decorated one from steamer6060 and stripped it to paint another CP multi mark hopper, I now have 31 Canadian hoppers behind the three SD40-2s, the train now looks very impressive snaking it's way around the layout. ]:)

Barry, what did you use to strip the I/M car? I have an I/M cyl hopper in Trona potash that I would like to redo as something else someday.

Dave I use methilated spirits with a hard bristle short hair paint brush for stripping paint on rolling stock, I don't know what would be the equivilant for you, I tried easy lift off once and lost a couple of Kato shells in the process, what you can do is soak the markings with microsol and remove them then repaint over the original I/M paint, I have done this a couple of times although I do prefer to start from fresh plastic. ]:) -- Edited by barrysfp45 at 03/16/2009 11:11 PM PDT -- Edited by barrysfp45 at 03/16/2009 11:13 PM PDT

Charles It looks like the right stuff to me, maybe I spelt it wrong LOL, it says it is unpalatable, guess what, the indigenous folk and cheap drunks here mix it with orange juice and get right off on it, I often joke about needing a drink when I buy another bottle of the stuff. ]:)

Nope. Still haven't finished the HO Saulena's. Haven't run a train in months either. I am however painting the interior of the house slowly. The new dining room is finished and we will have the professionals come in to lay an oak hardwood floor. I have the living room half painted. I can only do one wall a day with my bad arms so it is slow going. I guess I'm in 1:1 mode rather tham modeling. B-)
