Question....Why is there a bell on this Locomotive?

The bells are an American fitting, I don't know if this locos prototype was ever in America but the loco used for the flying scotsman was sent to America for a while and had the bell fitted while it was there, other wise I have no idea, nice shot though. ]:)

I think you have the right answer Barry. I didn't know that locos in other countries were NOT fitted with warning bells. Live and learn. Are we right John?

Hi. Not bad ,You are right so far as the bell goes. The original of this Locomotive was shipped to the States for the Exhibition at the Chicago World fair in 1933, I believe that the bell was presented to the Locomotive as a good will gesture, it also conformed with your steamers in the States which I believe were all fitted with a bell.
