My IPhone 12 operating system is 15.7 and not compatible with the new app upgrade.
Ebay’s customer service is totally useless in helping us fix this problem.

If your operating system does not support the latest version of the eBay app and you cannot update your operating system or use a previous version that is still supported, it should still be possible to use a mobile browser to go to ebay.com or ebay.co.uk and use eBay that way.
If you are using iOS 15, see instructions here for installing a compatible version of the eBay app:

If eBay browser links are opening in the app automatically, iOS users should be able to tap and hold an eBay browser link and select "don't open in the app" to prevent that from happening.

Not sure what you thought CS could do?
Use the browser and go to the web site?

Update your phone. An iPhone 12 can support iOS 17.7 or 18.

On your iPhone: go to Settings > General> Software Update.
iOs 18.0.1 is the latest version. Also make sure that once you select Software update that Automatic Updates at top of screen are turned "ON". The screen shows the currently installed version of iOS and whether an update is available.
You have skipped a significant number of updates, but your iPhone 12 can certainly be updated to the latest version ( i Phones going back to 6S Plus can be updated to the current iOs version). As always, before attempting any sort of update make sure you have backed up your phone automatically or manually.
