iOS app upgrade, older versions no longer supported

If you have been notified to update your eBay app, here are the steps to take to get the latest version onto your device. You need to have iOS 14 or higher to get the latest version from the Apple App Store

  • Open the App Store app on your device
  • Search for eBay app in the App Store
  • Select ‘Update’ button next to the eBay app title

Link to Apple App Store:

https://apps.apple.com/cg/app/ebay-buy-sell-and-save-money/id282614216

iOS 12 - If your device is running iOS 12 you might be able to install an older version from the App Store

  • Delete the ebay app from the device
  • Open the app store app
  • Tap account button
  • Tap Purchased
  • Scroll to the eBay app and tap the cloud and down arrow icon

If your device cannot be upgraded to iOS 12 you can use the Safari browser to access ebay.

Thank you and let us know if you have any troubles getting these updates to work.

Re: iOS app no longer supported on older systems

Many of us are experiencing reduced or no income at this time and cannot purchase a newer device.  Perhaps waiting until say August might be more considerate.  Using a browser is not the same, does not function the same and is not as secure as the app.

It's a shame because really this site could be even simplified to work on more devices instead of forcing people to spend more money to use your site

Re: iOS app no longer supported on older systems

Drastic economic downturn over 40 million people out of work and this made sense to you? Nothing about this site needs to be this complicated even and could work on even more legacy devices if you actually had any shrewdness businesswise you would make it easier for customers on every kind of device to connect you.

I will start weaning myself off of this and turn to craigslist.

Re: iOS app no longer supported on older systems

This is disgraceful exploitative behaviour and you know it is. I'm going to inform all my friends of this. Because I don't want them succumbing to exploitative money spinning. There are many other platforms that don't do this discontinued version nonsense. It's pretty obvious anything that does is payed by apple to push people into buying new products.

Re: iOS app no longer supported on older systems

I'm a seller who gives excellent customer service. I receive many questions and offers in the evening while watching t.v. and always take the time to respond. I don't have the $ to upgrade my phone, so now I will not get phone notifications in the evening and may lose sales especially if an offer is valid for only 12 hours. Likewise, I'll be in the dark during the day when I'm out & away from my laptop. In addition, I rely on the app to guide my buying when hunting down treasures as I use the app frequently to see what an item has sold for. Plus, consider all the Buyers who will no longer be buying.

My loss is your loss eBay.

Re: iOS app no longer supported on older systems

There are many, many of us now unable to operate ebay due to your discontinued support of IOS 10 or lass. Using safari or another search engine will not do. Not having an app to assist in searching and procurement will not suffice. Please reassess your decision...

Re: iOS app no longer supported on older systems

Please do NOT retire this service to iOS 10.

That will be a super loss to me.

There are dozens and dozens if not thousands of eBay users that NEED the app to function on iOS 10 devices. Apple's updates for those devices, brick the device or greatly messed up the device.

Many thanks.
