The eBay app now requires Android 4.2+ to run and install. If your device is unable to upgrade to 4.2 we recommend using the mobile website m.ebay.com.

You can still use eBay on your device but it will have to be via the browser not the app.

Thanks

Re: goodbye ebay

Realistically, if your phone is so old that it can't use new app you need a new one.  I am saying in the most supportive way possible, as someone who refuses to part with a 4 year old Galaxy S4 which requires a reboot twice a day.

Re: goodbye ebay

How old ones phone is not the issue...the new app just plain blows,I have a new phone and run the old app too...and when ebay stops supporting it...I stop supporting ebay and start using amazon.

Re: goodbye ebay

Ok..I have android 7.0 and your not getting the point.

WE DO NOT LIKE THE NEWER EBAY APP.

I run ebay app version 3.0.0.19 and I like it and I do not like the new one and there should be no reason for ebay to try and force us to use it and if you continue to try I will simply go shopping somewhere else.

Re: goodbye ebay

Maybe some of us don't want to be forced to buy a new / newer phone...  I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 that still works just fine for my needs... except for eBay now.  I don't use many app's, so I'm happy with my phone. Maybe some of us don't have that extra money to buy a new phone. Why get rid of it when it still works just fine? So much for the convenience of an app for eBay.  And... btw... when eBay sent me a message advising there was going to be a new app it said not to worry - that I'd still be able to use the old app, it just wouldn't have the new features.  Not true. The old app won't work.

Re: goodbye ebay

Thanks... The mobile app is not helpful imo. Tried that.  I realize it's not eBay's fault that the app can't accommodate those of us with semi-older phones, but sure wish we could still utilize an older version of the app like I had been using vs. putting me & others in the position of either not using eBay's mobile app or deciding we have to buy a new phone.  I see this as hurting sales vs. helping.  If eBay's push is to get more mobile users then there should be an app available for older smartphone users as well. Just my opinion.

Re: goodbye ebay

Ill be happy to provide specifics of what I do not like about the newest version of the eBay apps?
After about ver 3.5 there was a radical change to the app. Not only looks but 'feel' . No longer the simple ease of use. Too much content, especially ads and very difficult to navigate.
Gone is the simple My-ebay heading and simple listings of watching, buying selling.
The new menus are horrible and its just full of bloat. It feels like a project for trainee programmers that has gone too far.
Having now blocked 3.0 and earlier I wont be using ebay on my phone anymore.
And do you seriously think any one could use ebay web on a smart phone. Even the latest most powerfull is soon on its knees trying to cope with all the bloated java scripts. Never mind that no one has a microscope to read any of the text without zooming right in causing crashes and freeze ups.

Re: goodbye ebay

I agree.  I don't like the new version of ebay. After I finish my current transactions, I'll  start looking for other auction sites. I don't have Internet on my laptop so my phone is my only connection to ebay. There should be an option to stay with the old version like there was with the last upgrade.
