You wouldn't believe it I somehow got it working again. Though I'm not sure how. I had the apps backed up with Titanium Backup, but had tried restoring previously and had issues.
This time I cleared data for the eBay app.
Restored data for eBay from Titanium backup.
First changed permissions to allow location, storage and camera.
Then opened eBay and got an additional prompt to ask for access to location and allowed.
Then it went through and started working.
For me it looks like it's maybe a permissions issue, but am unsure. As previously mentioned I tried everything to get this to work, then just resolved it in 15 seconds.
Only suggestions I have. Maybe check permissions that nothing is blocked initially and if have a backup of the app try restoring it.
I initially thought that Titanium backup broke the eBay app as it had been working fine prior, so that was why I reset the phone and started again.
But appears to be working now, somehow.
What version ebay mobile is your xt1080 running? Mines 5.10.0.11 and wont update through the phone, play.google.com or https://app-oficial-de-ebay.en.uptodown.com/android/old , by downloading the apk and installing from file explorer.
Also what version is your play store on? Mines 14.9.76-all [0] [PR] 248813671
Mines still not updating/working
thank you for your time

Translation...
Ebay does not propose anything in any case nothing that works ... I also have the same problem: all my apps work except .... eBay as by chance with messages like:
Invalid request, error 485320 etc ... and their proposed solutions are phony, I tried everything: there is nothing to do except give us a version of the app that works!? ..
I'm not sure it's eBay's fault.. My Motorola XT1080 is doing the same thing, as I posted earlier. The app won't update to the current version because something in the android or some cases ios system is not communicating properly. Apparently some information that ebay uses to verify what version of the ebay mobile app should be installed.
If this forum is really monitored by ebay they should know what's going on, because I've seen this issue posted about in web searches going back to like 2012, with lots of ideas on how to fix it. Ideas like permissions, gps, clearing caches, uninstall/reinstall, download apk from "https://app-oficial-de-ebay.en.uptodown.com/android/download/1631391" and install from outside the play store to wiping the phone and starting with a fresh android system.
. Which is what got me in trouble.. Ebay worked fine before i wiped my operating system to start fresh.
They want us to buy new phones.. Just apparently not off EBAY

Curious .. When I have the app installed through the play store it doesn't show in the "installed" list or the "library" list.

I have exactly the same problem with my android tablet, unable to log back in, same error messages and screens, same software version, etc etc.
Cleared cache, reloaded, changed password. Nothing works.
I can get in ok on my android phone and my iphone.
This tablet version is not working.

The version of the eBay app I'm using is 5.32.0.12. As I said I also tried everything and in every case it failed.
I tried restoring the App + Data from Titanium Backup initially and after the eBay app would just hang and not open.
I even tried a factory reset and a different ROM altogether and this didn't fix it either.
There has to be something unique with the eBay app, as no other apps I have had this problem.
I'm running Android 9, I never had issues while using 8.
Not sure if I can think of any other things to try.

This is ridiculous. I called today and they told me it was the first they heard of this problem. What is the problem Ebay? Fix your App. I have 200 Apps on my phone and yours is the only one with issues.

Having exact same problem

Hello Everyone.
I was experiencing the same issue, and like many of you, I was unable to use the app. I looked for days for a solution to the problem, and never actually found one. I tried everything I could find, with no results. Then I decided to approach it differently and to my surprise, the app started working again!!
Below I will list all the steps I took in hopes that this might help any of you:
Phone: Huawei P20 Pro
System: Android
Steps:
1) Backup all your necessary information (this is only necessary if you haven't done it recently. In my case the app only stopped working after I reset the phone to factory settings)
2) Go to Settings/Apps/Ebay/Storage and "Clear Data" and "Clear Cache"
3) Reset your phone to factory settings (WARNING: This will permanently delete all the information on your phone, make sure you follow Step 1)
4) Once the phone restarts, make sure you perform all system updates to have the latest software
5) If your phone comes with the eBay app pre-instaled (like mine), go to Settings/Apps/Ebay and uninstall the app.
6) The MOST important one as I think this is what did it for me --- Disable your cloud settings. In my phone this is done by going to Settings/Users and Accounts/Cloud and then select "Cloud Backup" and disable
7) Open eBay.com via Chrome on your phone (update Chrome to the latest version if it prompts you to), and when the page loads you should have a Notification on the top of the page to open the page via the eBay App. If you do, click "View" and select open via Play Store.
😎 Install the app
After this, when I opened the app, I no longer had the error message, and I was able to login and start using it again. (Note: I haven't yet, as I am posting this, turned Cloud back on to see if it works after that, but I don't think this should be an issue).
I hope this helps any of you.
Regards
