can't make a one time payment using android app. after paypal redirect back to Ebay fals

so when trying to make a one time payment by clicking the link within my messages, I select the amount I'd like to pay, I select Paypal. I then get redirected to paypal where I sign in to paypal and select the source of funds I'd like to use. I hit continue, get a message stating I'll be directed back to Ebay. I then get a white screen with an X in the top left corner and nothing else. Payment doesn't process. This has been an issue now for at least 2 months.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S10 by ATT. app is latest as of now 6/23/2020
