Will not get notifications unless app is open

My wife and I have Galaxy S9 phones from T-Mobile. After upgrading to Android Pie our eBay apps will not send notifications unless the app is open.

This is not acceptable - how can this get fixed?

I was away from my phone for my last sales since I got the app so I'm not sure if mine works either. What I heard was by listening to my options in settings to select my sound. I hope when they fix it, they bring ka-ching back.

No. Did not work. I have a Galaxy Note 9. Could that be the problem?

I think mine is the same (S9+ with new Android Pie). I opened the app and got a notification that item ends in 14 minutes. Clicked notification and said that the item ended over an hour ago! Happened twice already and missed both items.

I have a Huawei honor play and for some time now I have not been receiving notifications until I open the app. As other users have reported there have been several auctions missed because of this issue and unintentionally delayed responses to messages.

When I go into the app settings, notifications are turned on but if I go into the sub menus nothing it's ticked. I've tried selecting these but as soon as I exit they return to unelected.

No, thut is happening on all notifications for all items and messages.

Thanks for the reports. Can you please check the battery settings for the eBay app. Some of the battery settings will change how notifications show up for the app.

Can you check the battery settings for the eBay app. This might be causing your notifications to not show up.

I turned off the Optimize Battery Usage for the ebay app and now the notifications come up when they're supposed to. Otherwise it would only come up when I opened the app hours after the item ended.

Is it supposed to be off to save power to stop it from using the battery or should it be on?  My screen does not look like the one pictured here.  I have never changed this feature, so not sure why it would make a difference, as everything was working properly last week.  In fact, nothing has changed but the notifications.  I just sold something and no sounds.

I'm having this same issue with Android S9. 

I've tried everything but receive no notification until I open the Ebay app itself. Once opened, I get all my notifications unloaded at once. 

I receive no notifications in real-time as previously. 

I've made no changes to my phone to cause this. It just up and stopped about a week. 

I've tried everthing.

-Sign out and back in
- Clear cache
- Delete and Reinstall
-Checked various switches

-Battery Optimization was never turned on. Its set to Medium. 

The only thing I can think of now is a hard reset which I want to avoid.  Any ideas?
