According to a rep on the UK community forum, eBay UK stopped supporting older operating systems and this is intentional, not a tech issue. Android 10 and iOS 17 are the minimum OS requirements for the eBay app in the UK.

If your device cannot upgrade the OS, you should still be able to access https://www.ebay.co.uk/ using a web browser on your device.
If links are automatically opening in the app you can delete the app which will default links to opening in your device's web browser.

But I can’t understand why, they say in the update, when it does not work, you can use an earlier update, but not how.
Using such as Google is fine, on the iPad, but when your using it many times a day, having to sign in, is a pain.
If they introduce a buyers fee, it may be the end anyway, but I will miss it.

See directions and screenshots at the below link, including what to do if your OS is outdated.
When using a web browser there is a checkbox on the sign in page to stay signed in.
