Troubleshooting Notifications - No notifications, No cha-ching, Late notifications

If you are experiencing problems with no notifications, late notifications, incorrect sounds please read this post. We will provide some common troubleshooting steps to get your notifications showing up properly.

• Notifications not arriving - Sign out and Sign in
• Cha-Ching sound is missing - Sign out, uninstall the app and reinstall the app. 
• Notifications do not show up until app is open - Adjust the battery saving settings on your device

How to adjust the batter saving settings:

Settings > Apps & Notifications > Advanced > Special Access > Battery optimization > Select All Apps at the top > eBay (Set this to ‘Not Optimized’)

Settings > Smart Manager > App Manager > Auto-Start Tab > Set eBay to “Restrict” 

Settings > Smart Manager > App Manager > Deep Hibernate Tab > Toggle eBay to ‘Not optimized’

Samsung S9 Settings > Device Care > Battery > Settings >  Adaptive battery toggle.. "Limit battery usage for apps that you don't use often. Your phone will learn how you use apps over time." Toggle OFF

Ebay programmers are really bad. 

This stupid notifications issue is just hilarious. My notifications aren't working for a long time now.

Please sign out, delete the app, reinstall the app and re-sign in. If that does not work let us know.

yea we haven't tried that or the battery optimize, restrict ebay deep hibernate or anything.

So I'm on pie 9.0 and I did most of those steps, only the steps given for the s9 were doable as the other steps were removed in update 9.0. My notifications still do not work well, I just get the cha ching sound no mater what. Yes I signed out, uninstalled and cleared cache

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, it did not correct.

I'm having the same issue in the eBay app as virginiapartsandparcels reported. This began once eBay moved me to Seller Hub on July 31, 2019; not sure if that's related as I always create listings from the desktop, not from the app. I have tried all of the suggestions in this thread to no avail. There have been no changes to my phone settings, and I have not installed any new apps that might potentially conflict with this.

To summarize, I do not receive any eBay notifications, only a very garbled cha-ching sound. This makes things very difficult when my phone isn't next to me, or during quiet hours.

Please help; I've already missed out on two auctions in my watch list.

Some follow up to the message I left on August 2, 2019...

If the eBay app is not active when I should receive a notification, nothing happens -- no notification vibration, no status bar notification, and no cha-ching on a sale or bid.

If the eBay app is active when I should receive a notification, I receive a very brief vibration notification (it doesn't seem like it's the normal duration), and then the eBay app crashes and restarts. I do not receive a status bar notification, but sometimes I receive a partial (garbled) cha-ching on a sale or bid that is much shorter than its normal duration.

As reported earlier, I've tried everything suggested here -- clearing the app cache, logging in and out, phone restart, and re-installing the app. None of these suggestions fixed the problem. And I'm not sure if its coincidental, but this issue began on July 31, the day eBay switched me to Seller Hub.

Is anybody else seeing the same problem?

C'mon eBay developers, fix this bug please. It can't be that hard.

I had to get rid of the horrible app as it was driving me nuts.....it was cha-chinging all the time for no reason. I would hear the Cha- Ching and I thought I made a sale but no.....Cha-Ching. Cha-Ching. Cha-Ching. No Nothing!!!!!! 😮

Seeing much the same thing now with my app on android too, I believe there was an update to the app that I installed and ever since it's been there, although the app itself doesn't appear to crash, I'm received a very short ker-ching, as is if it's about to "ker-ching" but then gets cut off, and I'm not received any other screen notification of a sale whatsoever.  The only reason I know of a sale is either by hearing the very short ker-ching, or by my emails, really annoying and likewise tried everything from signing out, uninstalling, re-installing, clearing cache, turning notifications on and off, etc etc, nothing is fixing it !!

Not sure if it is, or could be related, but I've also noticed in the past few weeks that chrome is having an issue with signing into the desktop version of eBay, my cached info sign on info just refuses to populate the username/password and it takes several clicks on these fields to jump start the field population, even then sometimes I have to refresh the page to get it to work, also on the last chrome update I now notice that when adjusting the volume on the desktop it's a chrome relation volume control as opposed to windows volume control, and if this is the same for the android just wondering if it's all of us with chrome that's experiencing the issue?

.... and even replying to this topic isn't without its issues as it's throwing all types of unexpected errors all over the place, double posting and omitting parts of posts, **bleep** ! I've uninstalled the chrome updates on my android and stopped chrome altogether, if anything changes with the ebay notifications I'll post back 🙂

Well it's nothing to do with Chrome, had it disabled most of the day and just had a sale but still nothing, no kerching and no notifications on android whatsoever. Even went to the bother of factory resetting the phone, re-installing eBay and nothing still ! As a last resort, I'm factory resetting the phone one more time and installing only the eBay app, if that still doesn't work then I'm convinced this has to be an eBay app issue and nothing to do with the phone or other apps.

Even now having completely factory reset the android phone, no other apps installed, it is doing exactly the same, very short ker-ching, and no visible notifications on the screen whatsoever so this cannot be anything to do with compatibility in regards to other apps, it's clearly an eBay app issue from the last update. Hopefully, someone from eBay might see this in the next few months and we may get something sorted lol.

Thanks for all your testing, and confirming that I'm not the only one experiencing the same problem. It would sure be nice if eBay addressed this ASAP. It has to be costing them money in lost sales -- no notifications received on watched items as an auction is about to end, so the prospective bidder then misses the auction.

By any chance, were you recently moved to Seller Hub? That's when I noticed the problems began with the app. The last update to the app (for Android) was on July 22, and I was moved to Seller Hub on July 31. I'm pretty sure everything worked fine between July 22 and July 31, though I'm not 100% certain of that.

I did receive a sound notification and status bar notification today when an eBay user sent me a message. That's the first such message I've received since the originally reported issue began happening, so I don't know if the notification problems actually ever occurred with messages received from other eBay users.

However, the originally reported issue still occurs with watched item reminders (15 minutes before an auction closes) and any time a sale is made or bid received.
