Sorting and results are inaccurate for high volume sellers

Just wondering if the app team is planning to fix "sort by price" for larger sellers. There is a seller I purchase from, and they regularly have about 10000 items listed. Many of those items are $1.00.

Performing a keyword query and sorting by price, low to high, completely breaks price sorting, returning items which are $7, $8, $10+ first, never displaying the cheaper $1 or $2 items. Aside from this, instead of returning the expected 2000 or 3000 results, only 40 or 50 are returned.

Before anyone asks, sorry, I don't have time to troubleshoot. Trust me, it's very broken. Very easy to reproduce. Worked once upon a time, maybe a couple years back. This is more of a complaint, and perhaps a polite nudge to fix. I have submitted this complaint multiple times within the eBay app when prompted to rate the app.

Can probably work around this on a desktop. Forget if sorting is broken there.

Sorting and results are inaccurate for high volume sellers

@doitflipper

Thank you for posting, we want to look into this. Can you give us some exact steps you are doing when the issue comes up.

Which seller ID are you looking at?

Are you on an item and tapping sellers other items?

Are you searching for a seller directly?

Could you share a screen shot of your app after you do the search with the keyword?

Thanks

Feel free to browse my saved sellers list to find the seller. Should be the one with 8000 to 10000+ items that I have purchased from before.

Note how they are selling hundreds if not thousands of lower priced $1.00 to $5.00+ items with similar keywords.

Steps to reproduce:

 - Add seller to saved seller list

-   Tap on seller

-  Tap Filter, select Buy It Now

-  Tap Sort, then Lowest Price + Shipping

-  In the blank entry field next to the seller's name, enter a keyword which is common for one of the seller's high volume $1.00 or so items, and search

- Results are not sorted according to lowest price, and are very truncated, somewhere around 40 items maybe. Query should return 2000 or 3000 items. For me, the first "lowest price" item returned is often $20 or $25 + shipping.

Sadly, this makes it nearly impossible for me to use the app, since I primarily purchase from a few main sellers. This did function correctly at one point in the app, maybe 1-2 years ago.

Guessing maybe the database queries were expensive in terms of resources or something? Hopefully this is just an issue which will be fixed, and is not an intentional limitation.

This should not matter because the behavior has been the same for a long time, but my app version is 6.24.0.2 for Android.

Nothing? If it's a bug and being looked into, I'm fine with that. Would just be nice if someone on the eBay side acknowledged the issue.

As of today, September 27th, the searches I previously described are still broken in version 6.29.0.2 for Android.
