Saved searches time out in newest version.

I upgraded to 6.96.0.5, from 6.92.0.3, the other day. Now, saved searches won't appear, whether I am on 5g or wifi. They show an Oops message after 10 seconds. I continue to try and still get that message. It was sometimes working initially, after the upgrade, but now not at all. This makes the app utterly useless to me.

Saved searches time out in newest version.

I am also using the eBay app version 6.96.0.5 but I am not having any problems with Saved Searches. The searches I tested loaded results without any error, delay or timeout.

You may want to try uninstalling the app, restarting your device, then installing the latest version from the Google Play Store. The restart in between should ensure a clean install.

More info: The same thing happens on a different Android phone, which had not had the ebay app installed on it before. I also logged off and back on, on my original phone. No difference.

Under my username, I have 124 saved searches. Nothing appears but the Oops screen. I am wondering if a new limit has been imposed (it had been removed when wildcard asterisks were made invalid, years back).

I tried another username which has only 7 saved searches and it works as expected, that is, it works!

If a limit is now present, surely Tech Support would tell us, right?  Did I miss the memo?

I have 139 saved searches at the moment, and the searches I tested work for me using the eBay app on my phone (Motorola G Power 2021, Android 11).

At one time there was a limit of 100 saved searches, but eBay raised that to at least 200 or more, and I have not bumped into a limit since then.

My tested phones are high-end LG, A12.  Something else is going on... I am tempted to remove 25 simple saved searches and see what happens...

Have you tried clearing cache and data by going to your Settings: Apps: eBay?

If you have already tried a clean install with a restart in between this is not necessary, but you did not say whether you actually tried that.

Hi. I did not do exactly what you mentioned but...
1. LG V60 installed a 6.96.0.5 earlier this week and saved search (124 searches) started to fail. Initially, seemed to point to wifi problems, but then 5g invariably failed too.

BUT I just tried it with the 7 saved search username and it works fine. No restart or cache; simply logged off and on with the other username. .

2. LG Wing works with 7 saved search username but always fails with 124 search username. Completely 1st time fresh install  this a.m.

3. SSg S20 works with 7 saved search username but always fails with 124 search username. Completely 1st time fresh install this a.m.

I would be leaning towards the old 100 searches limit except for your experience. OR, another type of limit, perhaps total characters or filling up something on their end during the refresh of new items procedure.

OR, a failure of distributed hw, NJ (my area) or larger. That is, ebay/local is timing out after 10 seconds.

SO, I just cleared cache and data on LG V60 and no difference; OOPS at 124 saved searches.

AND...

I uninstalled 6.96.0.5 and   installed 6.92.0.3 from the apk on the V60. It is failing on the 124 search username. wifi or 5G.  It works fine on the 7 saved search username.

The seven searches are not present in the 124. So if it's something which is breaking search, contained only somewhere in the 124, that would be very difficult to find.

Your thoughts?

If you save a new search using the account with 124 searches, does the new saved search work?

Not really sure which would be preferable: a problem with the account and the app, or a problem with your saved searches. eBay would have to fix the former, and the latter, if you could figure out what was causing the issue, would likely entail creating a lot of new searches.

Do your saved searches work using a mobile browser? They should if the problem is with the app.

Saved searches time out in newest version.

Hi - I created some new searches, and nothing appeared other than OOPS. I removed some searches using a browser, dropping the total to about 118, and that also had no effect on trying to access them in the app. .

If I use FFx, on the V60, I can see the searches and access the results, but that doesn't actually restrict the returned results to new items. On Opera, only the first batch of searches shows; 'show more' doesn't work.

Searches on Windows are fine, though still sloppy as ever.

I wrote beseechingly to the gang at Help, who once initiated a dialog with me about some other problem and my comments. (They say they don't read the messages, but they do. 🙂  ) So maybe they'll go looking for a broken piece of hardware. The way the failures sortof cascaded from Wifi to 5g, with intermittent success over the course of a half day or so, now makes me think (their) hardware.

The searches that work (the 7) are actually much older formats, with plus signs etc.

Sigh.

I FOUND IT!!!  Yup, I broke search.

I decided to go into Windows, using Opera, and generate each saved search individually.

The search     duvet -rizzy   US only for location, and a bunch of Brands I had initially check-marked, part of the creation of the search. Also had Type,  Size and Material with choices checked.

Came up with no items,   failing spectacularly.

I have been running this search for some years.

I removed it from saved searches on Opera, and went back into my phone. And my saved searches again work.

Playing in Opera, I attempted to recreate duvet -rizzy.

No longer are the Brand, Type,  Size and Material filters available.

Oh well. HELP TEAM, ARE YOU THERE?  ARE YOU LISTENING?
