Saved searches no longer working properly

I have a number of saved searches that search for phrases in quotation marks, and in the past they always worked correctly.  But recently, they started ignoring the quotation marks, and just doing keyword searches on all of the words in the quotes.  This returns a whole lot of hits for things I’m not interested in, making the site harder to use.  What happened, and can it be fixed?
