I recently upgraded from an older Samsung Galaxy to their new S21 Ultra, and am finding that the ebay app no longer has a 'Cha Ching' notification. I went to change the 'default notification sound' to Cha Ching to find that Cha Ching is not listed in the available notification sounds. So .. how do I get my Cha Ching back?

Please go into your notification settings and try our troubleshooting in there. It should have steps to get your cha-ching working.

Unfortunately that does not help. The troubleshooting instructions say to go to the notification settings and change the notification sound and to select 'Cha Ching' from the list of available sounds. But the problem is that 'Cha Ching' is NOT in the list of available sounds. Only dings and chimes and guitar sounds are available but no 'Cha Ching'.

Which leads to the fundamental problem that the eBay app allows one to change the sale notification to something other than 'Cha Ching' .. Why would one do this? The sound of the sale must always be 'Cha Ching' .. full stop. That 'Cha Ching' sound ought to ship within the eBay app and be the sound of the sale .. not dependent on if the host phone happens to have that sound in their list or not.

OK, I am able to reliably reproduce the problem. I uninstalled the app and re-installed fresh. I go to the Settings-->Notifications-->Selling. For 'Sound' it has "App provided sound" which presumably is 'Cha Ching'. If I click on it I am taken to a list of sounds to choose as my new notification sound. The "App provided sound" is not in this list. Not even going back works because it auto-switched me to 'Default sound'. That is how the 'Cha Ching' disappears.

This is reliable, uninstall the app and reinstall and the same thing happens. As long as you do not go to change the sound, it will be the "App provided sound" of 'Cha Ching'. Just browsing the list of available sounds will set it to "Default sound" which is whatever your phone's default is.

This is a bug with the ebay app, the 'App provided sound' ought to be preserved as an item in the list so that we can go back to it.
