Returning to search list from seller item page

I've seen this question posted multiple times while searching for a solution but have not come across a response that solves the problem. Please help.

1. Search for an item

2. Click item

3. Scroll down and click SELLER'S OTHER ITEM'S 

4. Press the back button (assuming you're going to return to the item listing in 3.) and return to the eBay home screen. 

This has happened on the last three phones I've owned for over two years and persists to this day. 

Why can't the app respond the same way the site does through the browser? It hinders the entire mobile buying and browsing experience.
