Notifications falsely show and re-show themselves as unviewed especially when they are not

Cannot seem to mark notifications as viewed in app AND still KEEP them so marked there for some reason; every time they are viewed in the app, no sooner does it seem possible to move on than BANGO, suddenly they REpop right back up again, FALSELY showing as UNviewed.
