Did you mean:

Nearest First Gone!

No longer on the sort by options on the mobile site or the app.

Has it gone forever. If so I'll have to find another marketplace to use as the majority of items I buy need local collection, even during lockdown!

Re: Nearest First Gone!

@enders2012   I don't know what is going on with the app.  However, if you request the full desktop site then you can sort by distance. I think what is happening when you try to use the desktop site is that it's reverting to the app.

You will have the same site as on a pc. You will have to zoom a lot but it does work .

If it reverts to the mobile site then see below.

Android:
Chrome> Ebay.com> select the 3 dot Chrome menu in the upper right hand corner> select use desktop site

Iphone:
How to request the desktop version of a website in mobile Safari
Visit the affected site in Safari.
Tap and hold the Refresh button in the URL bar.
Tap Request Desktop Site.

The website will then reload as its desktop version
When the site resets, there is a blue square menu icon in the upper left corner. It must be clicked to reveal the side bar showing the boxes to be checked for sold, complete, etc.

If the desktop site reverts to the eBay app:

If you have an Android device, then using the device manager, under Settings: Apps: eBay: Open by default -- there is a setting called "Open supported links" holding that down gives three choices: "Open in this app" "Ask every time" and "Don't open in this app". Choose "Don't open in this app". Changing that setting prevented browser links from opening up in the app automatically for me.

If you have a Chromebook, open Chromebook Settings, scroll down to Google Play Store and select it. Select "Manage Android Preferences". From there the above instructions should work -- go to Apps: eBay: Open by default: Open supported links: "Don't open in this app". Then back out of the settings and you should be all set.

If you have an iOS device, try holding down the link -- you should see some options about how the link is opened that should be remembered for the next time you open such a link.

Thanks for posting this. You should still be able to sort by nearest first. Are you signed into the app when you try this?

Re: Nearest First Gone!

Tried both in the app and on the mobile site, logged in on both... No nearest first 😐

Re: Nearest First Gone!

The only way to search by nearest is with the desktop version. Both the app and the mobile view are missing nearest first sorting. I even tried uninstalling to be sure it wasn't just a glitch with the mobile rendering...

Re: Nearest First Gone!

Are you sure you have entered your shipping location into the app or your mobile browser? Without a location, there is no way to calculate distance.

I notice you are registered in the UK, but you are currently signed in to ebay.com and posting on the US community boards. You may have different results if you sign out here and sign back in to ebay.co.uk, or make sure your country is specified correctly in the eBay app.

Using the latest version of the eBay app (6.8.0.12) I am able to search and sort by distance when signed in to my account.

Could you give us an example of what you are searching for and if possible a screen shot of the app with the filter open. You can email us this directly too androidhelp@ebay.com

Re: Nearest First Gone!

Posted here because it's where the app feedback link on the Google Play app page took me.

All location info is set! I've been using the UK version of the site and the app for months now without issue - it's only during searching today that the nearest option was missing.

Re: Nearest First Gone!

Was browsing TVs around 32 inches. I brought up the filter results options popup, then tried to change 'sort by' to nearest first - which was missing. I'll take a grab ASAP and email it 🙂

Still an ongoing issue, they probably messed something up within an update

I still see the option to sort by nearest first. Which browsers or apps have you tried? Desktop or mobile mode?
