I'm a longtime ebayer. I have grown frustrated enough with the bugs on the app to make this post.
I feel like I experience a new bug daily. The testing done by eBay is not thorough.
When I am out sourcing, I do a lot of searches. I've noticed this error a few times in the past but it has gotten much worse in the past few weeks. I will type in a query, tap search / enter icon, but nothing will happen. It will just show my previous search and it's results. Sometimes I can tap on the search icon (to bring up query box again) and the query I just typed in will still be there, I would then tap the search icon again, it would again bring me back to my previous search with nothing happening. The only way I can search that particular query is if I tap on the query search icon and tap on the suggestion below the text box which has the exact text of my query. This doesn't always work but it does most of the time.
Sometimes I will type in a long query and tap search and again it would do nothing. I would go back to the query box and the query I just typed would not even be there. This is extremely frustrating because I would need to type out the entire query again.
This happens EVERY DAY. I can't imagine how many customers experience this and get frustrated with eBay and just give up. It takes a lot of effort to figure out how to get it to search. Sometimes it will search but search a query I typed in two searches ago. Most of the time I will need to kill and restart the app to get it to search correctly. Completely Unacceptable.
Latest issue is uploading photos on a listing. Sometimes, after I pick a few photos, It will upload a couple then the rest will say uploading or pending and get stuck there. The only fix is to close the listing are reupload the photos that didn't upload. This happens many times every day. It is not consistent either.
I have latest Android on a Pixel 3a XL.

Here is a video of the search working until I tap on a listing. When it fails and I try again with a different query, you can see that it shows results for the query that it first failed on.
Can you please try this again now. We believe it should be working properly.
Thank you

I am still having major issues with search.
It's sporadic but very common. I noticed sometimes I would type a query in search on the app, press enter, then nothing would happen. I would give up and do something else. I would then come back and search again for something else and tap search. It would then forget my current query but search my previous query which earlier didn't work.
I believe you have a major bug with your search function. It has occured quite alot recently. I am a reseller and I use the search feature for searching completed listings. If I were a buyer, I would turn off the ebay app and go to amazon.

Thanks for posting. We have not heard other reports about this. Is there anyway you could capture a video of this happening? Are you on the latest app version? Does it only happen when you start doing completed listings searches?
thanks

Thanks for the reply. I am on the latest app version. I will try to see if I can figure out how to replicate the issue. I experienced it when doing new searches. When you do a new search, it automatically turns off completed listings.
I experienced the issue probably four times before I read this. But when I try to record the issue, it doesn't occur. I will keep playing with the recording software I have and send it to you when I get it to replicate.
Where do you want me to upload the video once I have it?

I apologize. As soon as I typed the previous message, I figured out how to replicate the issue.
If you try to do a search after you tapped on a listing, that's when the issue occurs.
In other words, if you do a search, it shows results, you tap on one of the listings, then you try to do another search while you are still on that listings page, it won't do the search, it will just take you back to the results list.

Here is a video of the search working until I tap on a listing. When it fails and I try again with a different query, you can see that it shows results for the query that it first failed on.

Thank you for the video. We have removed it from your post. This is very helpful

I tried it briefly and I did not see it occur. I am a reseller and constantly need to do new searches while I am at an auction. This will speed up my process immensely which may cause me to dominate the competition. Thank you.
Do you have bug bounties? Rewards for finding and reporting bugs such as this? 😉
Thanks again,
