I cannot change my email address as it says it is already in use

I need to change my linked email address as my money is being sent to a non-existent email and MY email address will not work as it says ‘email address already taken, please choose another’ .. help please as I need my money

You cannot use the same email address as a registered email for multiple eBay accounts; it sounds like you may have linked your email address to another account, possibly by signing in to eBay using Google or Facebook or Apple rather than using a username and password at once time.

You do not need to change your account's registered email address to change where your payments are going -- though you should still make sure your registered email address is valid and current.

You need to change the PayPal address in each of your listings so that payment will go to a valid email address that you control, and that can be tied to your PayPal account. You can use the same PayPal address with multiple eBay accounts.

If you can sign in using your email address and find the eBay account it is tied to, you may be able to close that account and then use that email address as your registered address for your other account. Just be sure to close the correct account.

When I went to close my account, it said something about not being able to use the same email even though you close the account. Are you sure if you close it you can reuse that email?

I found a simple way for gmail using + accounts; as an example my email is fredblogs@gmail.com. On filling in the new email address I just put fredblogs+ebay@gmail.com. So all ebay correspondence now comes to my fredblogs@gmail account. I have tested it.

Old I know, but try using one of those burner email generators. Change the email on your old account to what it gives you, and then It will let you use your current one. Obviously only do that if you don't care about the other account.

Yes!  My outlook email is so screwed up I can't get messages there and needed to switch to another email.  This trick worked!  thank you
