According to a post on the UK community boards, the latest version of the eBay app requires Android 10 or later, or iOS 17 or later.
There is another version of the app available for iOS 16 users; see here:
https://community.ebay.com/t5/Mobile-Apps/How-to-update-your-eBay-app/m-p/34920437#M50572
A possible workaround for iOS 15 users is suggested here:

If you cannot upgrade your operating system or find an older version of the app that works with your current operating system, you should still be able to use a browser to go to ebay.co.uk instead.
If eBay browser links are opening in the Android version of the app automatically, you can disable that by going to your device Settings: Apps: eBay: Open by default: Opens supported links and choosing "Don't open in the app". iOS users can tap and hold an eBay browser link and choose "Don't open in the app". Or just delete the eBay app entirely.

Hi thanks for the reply, if that is the case its disgusting i cannot afford a new smartphone and will be cancelling my ebay account, being held to ransom by a corporate company, another sign to not go digital !!!!

Cheers
However that doesn't make it right, why should i have to buy a new phone to use their app when i can use other apps no problem, think i will be moving on from ebay after this behaviour if they do not sort it out.
