After several days of trying to figure out why my new listing photos are being stripped of their vibrant colors after uploading to ebay since ebay updated its app photo editor, I learned this morning from CS that the updates are not compatible with Adobe Photoshop and Apple IPad photo editing programs. I was also told that it will be 3-5 days before the “team” can “address” (they didn’t say solve) the problem and no they will not notify us when it has been fixed, if at all. So, if you use Adobe and/or Apple for your professional listing photos and are wondering why suddenly your colors are dull and drab when uploaded to ebay, that’s why. And, unfortunately, we don’t know when or if ebay is going to fix it, only that they are going to “address” it. The ebay updated photo editor when compared to professional editing programs like Adobe Photoshop, is horribly deficient and frankly cheesy. I do hope ebay does more than “address” this compatibility problem because colors matter for many of us in our listings. The worst part? Their advice to me was to stop using my Adobe & Apple program and only use EBay’s. E gad.

AND uploading photos via the website instead of the app is a PITA because it loads my photos sideways and takes forever to rotate each one at a time (slow internet area). Hoping they fix this soon because I’m now five days unable to list new!

FYI, we are working on this issue over in Tools & Apps if you are interested. We know that the photos retain their color when uploaded via the ebay website; the ebay app is where the problems are. So, at least we can still list via the website until the app photo problem is fixed.

Just off another call with CS. She said ebay is aware of the app problem and is “working on it” and it should be fixed within 7-10 days. And no, there is no compensation or credit for the down time while they fix it. We must use the website listing tool instead. We accommodate ebay while they fix their problems that diminish our listings. (Trying to imagine what would happen to sales if sellers were as dismissive to the buyers as ebay is to its sellers.) In total, this means that the app is useless for two weeks out of a whole month and any loss in sales is somehow the sellers’ problem? Basic business says “don’t make your problems your customers’ problems.” But, this is ebay. Very frustrating. I reported the problem almost a week ago. And was told it wasn’t a problem. I’ve spent a week on this. Turns out it is a problem. January is normally a really great month for me in sales. I’m glad ebay finally acknowledged that its a real problem. I’m disappointed that I had to lose a week of listing trying to prove it. Ebay really should listen to its sellers better when we tell them there’s a problem. Ignoring us and patronizing us for a week is not cool and not very productive.

And why in the world if ebay is aware of the problem that they have not acknowledged our concerns here or posted about it? Is it a secret? This does a grave disservice to sellers who are using the app and having to compete with dull photos next to sellers who are listing with the website — and they don’t even know its happening because ebay hasn’t acknowledged or addressed it here, nor have they sent any seller notifications alerting us to the problem. If you’re taking photos and using the app for uploading them, your photos have lost a lot of color and you’re supposed to attract buyers with your dull photos, according to ebay. Sad, this lack of communication. Obviously they didn’t test the update before releasing it.

To the moderator/editor/censor: why was this post moved to IOS Mobile when it is to alert sellers about the problem? Unless they KNOW its their app, they won’t KNOW to look here. I don’t understand why you sometimes bury important information that sellers need in these little dungeons. I see posts in here and the other little dungeons from sellers that have gone months without any response.

brian@ebay Brian, here’s another related post I made that the forum moved to this page. (My posts are scattered all over the place in these little dungeons; I have yet to figure out why the forum moves our posts to places that don’t make sense to a lot of us. LOL. Just sayin’...”
