It seems this bug is related to certain devices? I notice several LG users have spoken up here, including myself. I have the LG G5 (RS988) running stock Android 7.0 Nougat.
Seems like this started around August 30th when my phone last got a big update. Not sure exactly but it's at least been this way for a couple of months.
This strange and crippling bug appears to be exclusive to the eBay app on my LG G5. My many other devices have never done this.
I doubt it's launcher related bc the recents menu is not controlled by launcher. Right? Or has that changed? FWIW, I am running Microsoft Arrow launcher and it does seem like this started around the time i installed it... But removing it changes nothing... So...?
On a few rare and random occasions, it will show up in recents but is always gone the next try. That is very rare, but has happened a couple of times when i was running the Google Now launcher i believe. Otherwise, this bug is consistent for sure and makes using the eBay app a highly painful experience! Product research that I do requires constant switching between apps.
I've spent hours on the hunt for some specific, rare part. And finally found it, only to lose it forever after a quick glance at Chrome for details.
Usually, relaunching it from the app list will bring it back right where you left it. But occasionally, it immediately kills the app so it restarts at the eBay home screen. I've found then lost several items bc of this. Rare/impossible to find items that I desperately needed for my work!
That experience is what brought me to this thread in search of any solution. I subscribed to this thread and will continue to search for a solution, updating here if I find anything.
Until this bug is fixed, I will have to use Chrome instead, miserable as it is on a phone, at least I know it won't ruin my life anymore
