This is ridiculous. I have my bootloader unlocked because I am a developer and I need that functionality at times to do things for work. But ebay has apparently blocked this because the app no longer shows up on the play store.
Fine. So I used to sideload from apk mirror because, you know, I might want to use your app. But now with a recent update, you're also blocking sideloading?!
If I try to open the app I get the "The app installed on your device is not recognized and could harm your device... search for it on Google Play."
But I CAN'T, because your blocking it. I cannot SEE or install ebay from google play.
So stupid. I guess I'm never using ebay again. Thanks everybody
Pixel 8a, fully up to date with security patches.

Can't you use the web browser and just go to the web site?

Same here, my bootloader is unlocked and i can't see the app in the store - installing the APK manually just gives me some sort of "this app is no longer supported" stuff - absolutely ridiculous.

Fortunately for Ebay, the number of people affected by this security enhancement is likely to be tiny. How the blame allocated for this problem between Ebay and Google is way beyond my pay grade but either may be wholly or partially at fault.
The Ebay App like many smartphone Apps sucks so many of us are less sympathetic than we should be.

So this happened to me and somehow I got past it... though I'm not sure how. Rooted Pixel Fold, stock rom, on Android 15 (April Update) w/ an Unlocked Bootloader. I have Magisk with the Play Integrity Fix module and Zygisk enabled.
After getting a replacement phone this past weekend the eBay app was no longer showing in my app store. When I manually searched for it in a web browser I found it but saw a message from the store saying "This app is not compatible with this foldable device". The odd thing was I could still see the eBay Motors app.
Anyhow figuring I was out of luck I found an older eBay app apk online ver 6.167.0.3 and installed that which I planned to live with. When viewing the app About page it said "installed from files" (sideloaded). The strange thing this morning was I opened ebay and saw the new "live" button which I thought was only part of the new update. I looked at the app version and somehow was on 2.210.0.1 now. It seems overnight the app was updated automatically, it even says installed from Play Store now. I do have my Google Store set to auto update apps but I didn't think that applied to manually installed apk's.
Anyhow, I'm not sure how or what fixed this but wanted to share all the info I had in the hopes it would help someone else on here.
