Barcode scanner doesn't work, please help

I've never been able to get the barcode scanner to work on my iPhone. It just comes up as a black screen with a red laser bouncing back and forth. I'm using an iPhone 8, Model # MQ6V2LL/A; ios Software version 13.2.3, eBay app version 5.38.0. I've uninstalled and reinstalled a few times, rebooted, etc. and still get the same result.

I posted in the tech forum about a month ago with no answer and I just found this forum for the mobile app and hope someone here can help. It would really help to be able to list from my phone. I'm attaching a screenshot of what I'm seeing when I bring up the scanner function. Thanks.

Can you please share a screen shot of the screen you are on before you tap the barcode scan/photo button.

Thank you. If you tap the same button while on the home screen do you have the same black screen?

Can you please check the camera permissions for the ebay app under your device settings.

Aha! Thank you so much!! Something so simple I never thought to check...The camera permission was off and now the scanner works when I click list an item.

However, that's the only place the scanner option shows up. When you mentioned the home screen in the app, I don't even have the option to scan. There's just a camera icon where the barcode scanner normally would be. Not sure if that's normal or not? Should I be able to scan items to see sold listings?

Great! If you tap the camera icon the camera will open and there will be a barcode icon in the camera, tapping that will change it to a barcode scanner.

Hi I have an Iphone 11 and the scanner will not scan a parcel tracking barcode. Worked fine on my old Samsung Galaxy 8. I have allowed Ebay Camera access via settings.
