App update

Today I received a message stating that it was now possible to download the app again. This came after no longer being able to use the app after the last update because my phone no longer updates past IOS 16. However it did allow me to download the  app but once I opened it up. It stated that I needed to update the app because it was out of date and would not let me advance any further. So only half if the problem was fixed.

What operating system and app version? eBay recently changed the minimum requirements to be able to use the latest version of the app (iOS 17 and Android 10), and many older app versions may not work any more.

According to a post on the UK community boards, the latest version of the eBay app requires Android 10 or later, or iOS 17 or later.

If you cannot upgrade your operating system or find an older version of the app that works with your current operating system, you should still be able to use a browser to go to ebay.co.uk instead.

If eBay browser links are opening in the Android version of the app automatically, you can disable that by going to your device Settings: Apps: eBay: Open by default: Opens supported links and choosing "Don't open in the app". iOS users can tap and hold an eBay browser link and choose "Don't open in the app". Or just delete the eBay app entirely.

Yes I had already established that I could still use the desktop. I deleated the app. 
today I received an email from eBay saying that I should now be able to use an older version. So I followed  the instructions.  below 

it allowed me to download the app but when I opened up it said it was out of date and I need to update it. 

If you’re on iOS 16 and are unable to update to iOS 17, follow the steps below:

1. Delete the eBay app from your phone 2. Open the iOS App Store 3. Search for eBay 4. Reinstall the eBay app

If your device has iOS 16, the app store may tell you that you need iOS 17, but it should still download a version to your phone that allows you to keep using eBay via the app.
