As of 6pm this evening, eBay’s app is no compatible with iPhone 7+. It appears to require an iOS 16 or higher, yet 7+ only goes up to 15.8.3 and can’t support a higher version.
I think a lot of people in the eBay community value the adage “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” eBay would be smart to maintain an accessible version or they will lose
buyers and sellers. Terribly unfortunate, but perhaps this will help curb eBay addiction . RIP.

eBay updates their app to keep up with changing technology. iOS version for Apple devices is now 18.
Your iPhone is outdated and is no longer supported by Apple since 2022.
You can either upgrade your iPhone or use the Safari web browser on your iPhone to do your eBaying.

Really? Unsupported? Why did Apple just push 15.8.3 to my phone and I still can't update the ebay app? Stick to what you know.
And yeah, I'm annoyed as hell with eBay. It's literally been YEARS since they brought out a change that I said "wow, that's really useful." Instead, we get these incremental bug fixes? How often do I need to keep updating? Stop messing with it and it won't be broken.
Updated 6 days ago. Updated 1W ago. Updated 1W ago. Updated 2W ago. FIVE update versions one month ago. Three more updates 2 months ago. FIVE updates 3 months ago. Four updates 4 months ago. Four updates 5 Months ago.
Lets see: that's TWENTY FIVE updates in six months. I'd fire the bunch of their programmers if I could. If the app needs updating more than twice a year, it's too much.

This is the dumbest thing I've heard but, deleting the app and following the instructions to re-download an older version did indeed work. Thank you.

I’ve just discovered I’m in the same boat won’t allow update or to enter eBay they are going to lose a lot of business

Same here. Deleted app as instructed but there is no way to select an earlier version to download, so it just downloads the latest version by default. Very annoying. I am not going to upgrade my phone just for eBay!

See directions and screenshots at the below link, including what to do if your OS is outdated.
Requires Android 10 or better
Requires iOS 17 or better, but there are directions for iOS 16 users to download an older version of the app
If you cannot update to a compatible OS then you'll have to access eBay from a web browser on your device and you'll probably want to delete the app so links open in your browser instead of the app.

Why would you shot ya self in the foot . . . ??? . . . eBay is old , so are most of the people that use(d) it so I’m told , and old people like old things like phones …. Sometimes some people are happy with what we’ve got , it’s called “contempt ‘’

This sadly doesn’t work for me either, deleting the app and then downloading again,it just keeps coming up with update or exit, seriously thinking of using another platform to list items

deleting the app and then downloading again
Try deleting the app and going to ebay.co.uk using a mobile browser if you cannot update your operating system.

That only works if you're on iOS 16 @ells452013 .
If you're on iOS 15 then you'll have to use a web browser on your device and you'll want to delete the app so links don't try to open in the app.

Yes, I understand that us dinosaurs on anything under iOS 16 are able to use the browser, but it’s a profoundly poor substitute for the app! I’m sorry but it’s just not good enough. There’s literally no chance of me buying a new iPhone/iPad just so I can use the eBay app, especially seeing as it’s the only app that has this problem, and this browser is like being in the dark ages.

Totally with nickdt83. The app doesn't work. If I delete and reload it as per the instructions above... the app doesn't work. Now I've had to remove authentication via the app from my account when I log in on my laptop. Suggesting that using a browser on the phone is any sense a practical solution to eBay failing to provide a working pre-IOS 16 version of the app is profoundly annoying. I was already aware that I could access the internet from my phone, but obviously no sane person would do this for eBay, which is why there is an app for mobile users. Or rather, for some of them, as the case now is.

But it doesn’t work,,, can’t download older version on our 2 iPhone 7 plus phone. Other things going on with ebay,,, change password but get the message “wrong password” although you’ve been through the verification process with codes etc. Somethings wrong at ebay HQ and it needs urgent attention.
