App Won’t Read Barcodes

My eBay app doesn't detect the barcode frequently. Is there a issue with the app?

Bar code reading seems to be working for me using the eBay app 6.58.0.1.

Same here on iPhone SE (2016). Camera starts and asks to scan a bar code but doesn’t scan any bar codes presented.

Hi @surher-40 and @innervision_69! Will you give us a few examples of what you're trying to read? There are several kinds of barcodes and our reader doesn't read them all; but they definitely do the more common ones.

The camera/setting can also affect things. If it's low res, smudges, auto-focus isn't working, etc. then that can cause issues too and could explain why it's not working as well for you while it is for @eburtonlab.

I am also not able to scan barcodes anymore on my Android device. I've done it for years with no issues, and I have done the newest updates to the app. When I select the barcode scanner option, it comes up like it always has, but it never picks up the barcode. It probably has been doing this for a few months, with no changes to my phone or any other obvious variables that I can think of that would cause this. Help!!!

I just tried to scan Artistro Acrylic Paint Markers with no luck.... it also will not scan Ranger Multi Medium Gloss... Classic Leather Hip Wallet will not scan either! First three things I picked up with a bar code, will not scan.

I have been having the same issue since July 2022.  I am on an Android S9, I have the latest eBay app installed.  I have tried to uninstall the app, restart my phone, and then install the eBay.  still no luck.  anyone else know of a solution?
