My eBay iPhone app doesn't have advanced listing option

I have an iphon 7 plus with iOS 11.4.1 version. I'm having difficulty with the ebay app 5.24.0. I'm a new seller on ebay, but I've encountered a number of problems with the 5.24.0 ebay iphone app. My app doesn't allow me to switch to advanced listing tool. Other sellers have the convenience of controlling their listing duration and other benefits, while I don't. There is no "change listing preferences" or "switch to advanced" button on my app.

Why is this a problem?

Good til' Cancelled is set as the default, which means it eats up my free listings without me knowing and all in all, without the seller's consent. Last month, I had to pay extra fees because my items exceeded 50 free listings when I remember I only did 25. I see a large amount of sellers expressing this kind of issue with much frustration and as their post didn't find any kind of solution for them as well as for me. I already tried contacting ebay support team by phone (40 minutes), but the representative didn't help me. All these problems I've encountered make ebay inefficient, counterproducive for sellers, thus their company as a whole.

I'm about to consider a new site of selling if this keeps on happening and if I don't get concrete help after posting this discussion.

Thanks for your feedback. What you are seeing is the new advanced listing tool. In order to allow sellers to list faster on mobile, we are testing the removal of duration options. Our data shows that longer durations perform better, provide more buyer predictability, and index more easily in search engines. This test will ensure that you are listing in a way that gives you the best chance to sell. While not recommended, you can still end and relist items on a shorter timeframe if needed. When you apply the Good Til Canceld duration you should not be getting charged insertion fees.

The only time I list in GTC is when I am selling multiples of an item. Please consider this a vote to restore other options especially the 30 day option which should be long enough for search engines.

The ebay app is now useless for listing items. I have an ebay store, but only want 30 day listings. If something does not sell, I do not always re list it. I do not want automatic "Good Till Cancelled" listing - I want to be able to choose the option I want.

Using the ebay app used to be very easy - take photos of items with my phone, list quickly with the app. Using my website browser to list items on ebay is impossible to do. I have not listed as many items as I was because it is now so difficult to do without an actual computer.

Please update the app so we can choose time duration on BIN items!!

I agree. I will stop using the app this week because of the lack of flexibility, and because it now forces me to use auto-Relist. I have to revise each auction on a computer anyway to remove auto-Relist so will just start doing the whole thing on a computer. New form doesn’t work for me at all. Please change back.

Well, it's nice to know that there is a method behind the system. Still not unclear whether listing "GTC" doesn't count against each additional months credits. Last time I checked, it did. That was a while ago, has the policy been changed?

Other problems I have with the new app are that it has no way to input handling costs, which are distinct from the cost of the item for sale.

And, the default lists "3 business days" handling time and "No returns" so I have to change that for every single listing.

So what I've done lately, is use the app to set up the listing w/ pictures, weight, and shipping option, then save as draft to log onto a computer and more easily complete the listing. Takes longer than the older app. Hopefully it gets fixed soon. I remember at one point several years ago, they removed the shipping and handling fee option on the app, and it eventually got added back again.

@ehi_passika

Thank you for reporting these issues. Good Till Cancled will give you 8 free relistings that do not count against your monthly listings. ****

We will look into the defaults not being saved as handling time and returns should save between listings.

Thanks

**** Update to this:

The “automatically relist this item” feature available to some members does not count towards zero insertion fee listings and is free of charge. Seller-created or relisted items may be counted towards zero insertion fee listings both at the time of listing and upon each renewal (in the case of Good ‘Til Cancelled), depending on the tool used and the seller’s subscription level. We will correct the threads that indicate otherwise and get appropriate feedback to the mobile support teams that oversee those threads.

Operative word "Should not" "...When you apply the Good Til Canceld duration you should not be getting charged insertion fees." but the FACT is that no only are you being charged insertion fees the relists are also counting towards your "free listing" limits. And you can't even tell which items are counting towards your free listing limit or worse what you are being charged for when your "free listings" have run out because when you click "used/left " button you get a "hidden counter"  so you cant see which listings are being counted towards your listings and when they run out ( which they always do in my case I have over 200 listings) you can't even see which RE listings you are being charged for until AFTER you are already invoiced and billed . I'm sick of having to call Ebay and spend over 2 hours explaining to them that the relists on the ebay app should not count towards my 50 free listing and i should NOT be charged insertion fees. Most of the ebay reps i talk to  are not aware of any such thing and refuse to reimburse my fees! So once and for all, will you post a public policy regarding listings on the ebay app, that is easy to reference for everyone involved, OR makes changes to the app that will enable sellers to choose how long they would like to list the item!

I 100% agree. eBay's greed has caught up with them on this relisting feature but what they are not realizing is they are losing money! I can relist up to 50-100 listings in a day using the phone app because my camera is attached and it is wham bam, thank you ma'am. If I have to go into change 100 listing to unheck relisting fees, it will take another day to do that.  I try to keep up by doing the few ending same day but if I forget, there are my listing fees.  I would love to know the percentage of sellers who use the app vs computer. I bet it is growing every day. eBay needs to wake up and worry about final value fees on all listed items that sell. Or add this feature to the phone app along with return policy questions. Please eBay! Without sellers, you have no buyers.

100% agree. Not only are several features no longer an option on the app, the prelist checkbox is no longer there.  Pure greed on eBay's part but they are losing money on listings and potential sales.  I can list 50-100 listings in a day using the phone application.  My phone is my camera (iPhone 6S Plus) which works well.  There is no longer an auto relist feature except on the computer from what I can tell. If I can get advanced listing tool on my phone, please tell me how.  Also, return policy keeps changing so I have 48 lisitings needing correcting. I am just saying no returns, it is easier. Then if someone contacts me, I honor it but that isn't an explanation to those not asking a question!

Wish I had that option.  My computer is very slow and about to crash.  I can list 50-100 listing using my phone app and camera in a night but if I have to do it on the computer... forget about it.  Also, eBay has cut off their nose to spite their face.  I make them a lot more money listing 100 items than auto-relisting which I go in and change manually but I am branching out to other sites selling as well. This is ridiculous and greedy! Without sellers, you have no buyers!
