Sorry, I don't know, except that was an ID that someone shared on this board a while back. Maybe someone else will remember too.

Re: Anyone familiar with this Butterfly makers mark

Pin is from a Boardie who hasn't posted here in a while, so could be the one who made the ID in the past.

I did some research on google and found a few results for Weekenders Clothing that uses the Butterfly Logo, same as Pin. I might have found the google results because I was Canadian and they were Canadian.

Re: Anyone familiar with this Butterfly makers mark

Marie, may I ask where you got the information about the connection of Weekenders being by Ernst Bek.  Because there really is so little information out there about Weekender Jewelry I went looking for information on Ernst Bek.  But the timeline I found for his company does not match the current Weekender butterfly mark.  If you are talking about the Ernst Gideon Bek, who manufactured jewelrey and who lived in Pforzheim, Germany.  This is his mark

Ernst Gideon Bek mark stamp hallmark

Which is nothing like the Weekender mark, except they are butterflies.  Also my understand is that his business closed during WWII.

Weekender jewelry is not that old.  It is new costume jewelry.

Though the beauty may be in the butterfly, the struggle and growth occur in the cocoon.

Re: Anyone familiar with this Butterfly makers mark

This is not the butterfly mark of Ernst Bek, I have a demi of his and the mark is quite different... just a response.

Re: Anyone familiar with this Butterfly makers mark

This is an Ernst Bek piece ...

Ernst Bek very rare signature butterfly mark

Ernst Bek who was a German Designer
He was best known for his metal mesh purses but he did hold a few patents for earring designs

Ernst Bek's jewelry prior to World War 1 was marked with a butterfly as a signature. After World War I, Binder regained ownership and reproduction rights and the jewelry was then produced with the Binder Brothers mark of BB.

His jewelry was sold only in the USA by Binder Bros up until World War 1 at which time all of Bek's stock was confiscated.

Hope this helps as now you can just research the name ... I have a demi of his, brooch & earrings and it took me a long time to find out but through constant research and just not giving up I did find it with identical markings on the backside.
