These only measure 1 1/4" x 1". They seem too small for fur clips. Was there another use for this type of back? Thanks!

Thanks for your responses mermaid, feline and OCN! At least you've expanded my thinking with some good possibilities .

jewelry for a very special Teddy Bear (earrings if it's big enough!)

LOL, Diane! I don't have a Teddy Bear, but do you think my cats would mind?

I would pay good money for a video of someone putting earrings on a cat. But you have to put on both earrings and the cat has to wear them a full five minutes!
Extra if there's no blood!

I should clarify - no blood on you! Screw backs only please.

I'm not brave enough or dumb enough to try and clip them on my cats! They'd never talk to me again! LOL!

My latest Coro Duette has fur clip mechanisms this small. The dancing figures are 2" in length but the clips themselves are only just over 3/4" of an inch.

How do you think they were worn, Cali?

I just assumed mine were small to fit in the special frame designed for them. I suppose they could be worn on a short hair fur, like mink or worn on a fur collar, etc.
I'm wondering if your's were part of a duette or clipmate but I can't really see how they would have sat together on the frame, maybe they were part of a bracelet style duette ?
