Help IDing maker and pearl question

Hi all! I'm looking for some help the maker AMEF on the back of this clasp. I see others listed but no info as to maker. Also, what with these pearls, lol. Many of them are not round and only the first three pearls are knotted. Did someone just get lazy?? When I list do I just say some are not round? It funny, I have sold a lot of Honora pearls and these are so much prettier, not happy they're not round! Thanks for any help! Lisa

It appears to be a bad repair job.  The original string probably broke and someone tried to restring using lesser quality pearls (and lesser effort with the knotting).  Some of the pearls closer to the clasp are more yellow so probably older.  Maybe some creativity in the face of poverty?

I agree with rixstuff about re-stringing.  The clasp was designed for a triple strand necklace.

Either that or the middle strand broke and the wore it as a 2 strand necklace.
