Has anyone had success with growing rainbow roses from seeds you purchased from eBay Sellers?

Hi, there is no such thing as a rainbow rose, just like there's no such thing as a true blue rose. NEVER buy seeds for roses, they take years to bloom if you can even get them to sprout, and you don't know what type they are or if they are invasive.

The rainbow rose seed thing is a scam. I have tried to point this out to ebay, but I'm not sure if it is taken seriously or not. I did once purchase these kinds of seeds but when looking up growing instructions I found out that it is IMPOSSIBLE to grow rainbow roses from seed. So what ARE they selling? Each pack retails at about £1.00 so sell a few hundred and there's your profit. No negative feedback bacuse we all know it takes a long time for plants to grow & flower. And loads of people are selling them. They should just be banned outright.

I have purchased them, and shared them with friends. No body has had any luck. I was so nice to mine , the only thing left for me to do was sleep with them. I hope that tells you. I do not know if they are real, but the ones I got from ebay did not work.

I to was about to buy rainbow rose seeds. Guess is they don't grow multi colour and you have to add the colour later they aren't what they say they are.

I've spoken to eBay several times about these fake seeds from China a few years ago. That was an extremely difficult process in itself. THEY ARE FAKE. So are the blue strawberries and watermelons and black roses and blue peonies and an appalling large number of items for sale now under these categories. I would assume that it is really hurting the other sellers and apparently eBay doesn't care because it has gotten significantly worse over the last few years. And yes, I'm starting to see them showing up on Amazon.com as well.
I would hate to say that they should ban any 'seeds' coming out of China but perhaps they should. Not to mention, you do need an import license to import seed from China - FAKE or NOT. I'm surprised that eBay has allowed this to become so prevasive that these fake items clearly represent at least one quarter of all postings in some categories... especially Roses. And I feel sad that so many unknowing customers are being dupped into buying them.... amounting into the thousands of dollars. I'm a PhD'd plant breeder here who knows a fake when he sees one. Buyer Beware. eBay DO SOMETHING. Bill

Bill, I completely agree with you! Ebay needs to intervene quickly with all these scam artists! The vibe on a lot of plant site message boards is negative on Ebay seeds largely because of these scam artists. I'm seeing too many sellers, particularly from China, peddling multi-color roses, giant tomatoes, dwarf blueberry plants from seed, blueberry cultivars from seed(can't happen) etc...
This subject has to be extremely frustrating to all the honest seed sellers on Ebay. It's painful to think that the vast majority of the buyers are likely newer gardeners who are going to be in for a disheartening planting experience. Ebay please help!!

OK, so I am one of those persons who fell for it, purchased the Rainbow seeds only to find they are a scam. I thought e-bay had safety nets in place to stop people sell items which are disrepresented. So why haven't they stepped in & stopped the advertisment & sales of these seeds ?

These are a scam, and do not exist anywhere in the world, or can you get Black roses...BEWARE

This is a mega scam. Yes, you can grow roses from seed, NO they will not be "Rainbow" Roses.
It is an artificial process AFTER cutting the blooms to get the different colors. Anyone who is
interested in buying these seeds should do your research on "Rainbow" Roses, what they are,
how they are made, how to grow roses from seed, how long it takes to get them to blooming size.
Basically you need to research the horticulture of roses before you get sucked in to this SCAM.
