Premade pages and Scrapbooking Questions

Hi, I haven't been here for awhile, but now I'm an active member. I have just entered the "paper world" of scrapbooking. Presently I'm creating my first 12" x 12" premade pages layout. I would like to use this thread to ask any questions I will have from time to time. ~~What kind of glue/adhesive do you use to attach papers and embellishments to your premade pages? ~~Do I cover the back of the premade pages with something to hide, say, the back of brads, etc.? Thanks for your helps!!! :-D Jacqueline

Re: Premade pages and Scrapbooking Questions

Morning Jacqueline, I use the little mounting squares to put on my brads so the brads do not tear the pages and to hide the brads Just make sure you do not remove the top paper because these are double sided glue. Plus if you are going to sell the pages I would apply this it just looks better. I detest getting a tag and the brad shows on the other side. Finished product is very important. Glue that covers a lot of areas you will have to find what works best for you. I use Scrappy Glue by Magic Scraps for metal seems to hold better than anything I have found. (just me) Zig 2 way glue & Sailor glue is good for applying alphabets and small paper items. I also use Zots and Zips. Vario is also a good one. If at all possible try and attach your charms with brads or a safely pin or paper clip. (they come in colors) There is so much to learn and I do believe neatness is a must! I have the Xyron all of them! This is good for applying to your photos to mount onto cardstock but does get expensive. Use the Web there is so much out there to help us. Hope this helps you a little.:-x Bonnie -- Edited by special_treasurers at 04/16/2009 8:22 AM PDT

Re: Premade pages and Scrapbooking Questions

Sorry, Bonnie, for not responding sooner. I've been researching right and left on eBay. I don't remember if I told you, but I started my first 12" x 12" premade pages layouts. Thank you for the information...it is great! I need a clarification about covering the back of the brads. If brads are used on the background paper itself, do I use mounting squares there also? I notice a lot of layouts seem to be built up and/or layered. Are there any special tricks to this? You are a great resource gal for me, Bonnie. Thank you for your willingness to help me....this newbie to the paper crafts' world. :-x Jacqueline

Re: Premade pages and Scrapbooking Questions

I need a clarification about covering the back of the brads. If brads are used on the background paper itself, do I use mounting squares there also? You can use the mounting squares if you want Some do and some don't I always cover up any ugly if I can but that is up to you. I notice a lot of layouts seem to be built up and/or layered. Are there any special tricks to this? *Yes, they are using 3D embellishments or making their own doing paper piecing and cutting out 2, 3 or more layers and putting the pieces together with pop-dots. You can use pop-dots on your stickers and make them 3D also. I am selling a powder container with a brush and powder to us on stickers if you want to take a look at this. I don't think there are any bids on it as of yet. Cheap, cheap. I have two and only need one so I am trying to sell one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=320360239731 -- ~~~~Bonnie~~~

Re: Premade pages and Scrapbooking Questions

Hi, Bonnie, I have been going online researching all kinds of scrapbooking projects....which you advised me to do. I'm not finding premades/layouts, though. Are there some general reference books out there that teach the little (and/or big) details of construction, and techniques? I have a lot of "reference books", as I call them for all kinds of papercrafts. One of my books is Papercrafts and Stamp It. Another book talks about how-to make cards....but, neither show the how-to on construction tips for premade pages. Like the one example you gave me about covering the brads. Name the book(s) and I'll grab them. 😉 Thanks again for all of your great helps, Bonnie! Jacqueline

Re: Premade pages and Scrapbooking Questions

Jacqueline, Hi. Do you know how to mat your photos? You may need to crop some of the photos to fit? Cut out some of the background. Are you trying to make pages to sell or for your own use? This is very important because you can use your own photo to decide what size the mats need to be. If you are making page layouts for selling you will need to decide how big the mats need to be for what you are doing. I am sorry but I just do not have the time to explain all the to you, so sorry. I am going to list some books on my eBay auction site Sunday that you may like so check my eBay site on Sunday. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=How+to+make+scrapbook+pages&sourceid=navclient-ff&rlz=1B3GGGL_e... -- ~~~~Bonnie~~~
