posting authentic item concerns

I have posted several authentic bags that were given some kind of counterfeit warning and threats of suspension to my account in the future. I know my bags are real because I bought them retail albeit 20 years ago. I want to list more of my bags, but don't want to have my account suspended because I don't have receipts after 2 decades.

Is there a way to submit a listing for a vintage bag before posting it so that I don't get punished for posting something I KNOW is authentic, but eBay says is not? So get it approved in a sense so I am not accused of violating the policy ?

Re: posting authentic item concerns

If you post pictures of the bags and the areas that are necessary for authenticating them, posters who know the brands can verify authenticity.

Especially for you as a new and unproven seller, I'd recommend a professional authentication (<$10) to add credibility to your listings and reassurance for your buyers. (Don't invest money unless and until those items are determined to be authentic. No need to throw good money after bad if the items are deemed to be fake.)

Re: posting authentic item concerns

OK , well I guess I don't understand the explanation then. EBay told me that they will only accept certain types of authentication without giving me specifics.  There was never any mention of a $10 fee for authentication, not that it matters. I am not getting definitive answers from anyone, just threats of suspension or violation of policy notices.

Re: posting authentic item concerns

It's not ebay who charges the fee for authentications. There are outside (3rd party) authentication services, some better than others, some more expensive than others, some that us AI (which I don't recommend), etc.

But my recommendation that you post pictures of your items here still stands. Get an opinion on authenticity before spending money and going to a pro.

If an item is determined to be an obvious fake, why invest in a pro?

Try Holy Grails as they come highly recommended.

Re: posting authentic item concerns

I agree.  Post here first to get an idea.  I recently used a 3rd party authenticator and included a picture of the authentication in the listing.  I also sent it to the ebay authenticator when its sold.
