Hello
I sold a hat and the buyer says it is damaged. they sent me one photo of the damage. I was asking for advice on a different board. Can I post the photo that the buyer sent to me on the message board? Thanks

You need to check your original listing and see if the area shown as damaged is clearly shown as undamaged in the listing. If it is you should submit all pictures to ebay but wait for the sellers here to tell you how to do it. I have no clue.
If the specific area is not shown use this as a learning experience to clearly show all areas of your item in your photos but you still need to determine how your hat was damaged.
Was the box damaged in shipping? If so, the buyer needs to make a claim. I just went through this on my own purchase from another site and was told that I had to initiate the claim which I did but my package was fully insured.
Wait for others to confirm whether you can post the picture but I see no reason not to since it’s your item and it was sent to you. Do not post any of their text.

The hat was in like new condition. Take a look at my photos. You can see the strap close up in my photo. The buyer sent me one tiny photo of the strap and it looks like a dog chewed it. I was asking about this on a different discussion board. I wanted to know it it's ok to post the photo on there that the buyer sent to me. Or here for another opinion. Thanks for the reply.

Wait for the sellers here to tell you what to do but IMO you should fight the return to “the bone”. This is bull. Your buyer obviously trashed it and agree she most likely has a dog! Sorry this happened to you, but thankfully at least we’re talking about a cap and not a designer bag!

Unfortunately, ebay is quite lopsided and you'll be required to accept the return, getting a ding on your account if you force ebay into resolving it.
But with that said, I'd respond to the dispute with a side by side picture of your section of the hat vs. what the buyer claims to have received and report the buyer.
My guess is that the buyer has another of the same item and is not going to return YOUR hat. And if you issue a partial refund, he/she will get a new replacement for the damaged one he has.
IMO, the buyer did that damage!

long thread about this on the Sellers board..

I lightened the buyer's picture in your side by side. It doesn't even look like the same fabric in the hat the buyer photographed vs the OP's. But even if it's the same hat, it appears the buyer just yanked the velcro apart without regard for the seams and ripped the whole area badly.

I definitely smell scam since the buyer contacted the seller within minutes of receipt of the item!
I know what you mean. I'm pretty fast on the keyboard, but I don't think I could receive a package, open it, examine the contents, run to my computer, bring up the listing, and write a complaint quite that fast.

I can’t judge for those that sell but as a buyer I definitely look past an occasional neg and don’t care if the seller is not 100% (within reason) if responses seem reasonable and they have something I want.
i understand that claims resolved in the buyer’s favor can hurt a seller in higher fees and maybe other stuff but I know that if it were me I would never acquiesce to a bull claim that took advantage of me. On the other hand I get that we all have to pick our battles and maybe this one is too insignificant to wage a war over which is a decision the OP will have to make but this smells like scam to me too.
