What is the difference and which is better to use for Cardigan sweaters? I'm guessing hook and eye are where they are both hard and sewed straight to the sweater with no strings attached, while hook and loop is when there Is strings attached to the hook and the loop itself would be the strings on the other side of course in a loop, is this correct?

That looks more like a toggle closure.
Hook and loop is what Velcro is - Velcro is the trademarked name.
Hook and eye are the things you close your bra with.

"Hook and loop" makes me think of Velcro. "Hook and eye" makes me think of a fastener like you find on bra backs.
Are you speaking of 'shank' buttons, possibly? If so, I think they work on cardigan sweaters.

this is my idea of hook and loop, hook and eye would be similar but with both being hard like metal, and both sides would be sewed straight onto the Sweater instead of those strings, as far as I know but have no confirmation of that even with ebay searches people seem to use both

Yes, hook and loop is Velcro. Not what you'd want on a sweater I would think.

Those are toggle buttons. So you'd choose Button as the Closure item specific.

The others are correct. Hook & Loop is simply a euphemism for velcro, which is trademarked & the TM owner very strongly protects it & goes after people who incorrectly use the term "velcro".

Funny thought, and off-topic... here in Nashville, more of our pearls have snaps than strands. Y'all know me...
