Hello, I purchased this chanel dress, and the label has me wondering about the authenticity. It is only affixed to the dress by a stitch in both top corners (not seen down on the top, sides or bottom of the label). Also, the line down the side of the label does not match up straight. Thank you for any opinions.

Did you ever determine its authenticity? I bought a sweater with EXACTLY the same tag, same stitching, everything. My biggest question is the circle with the 2 C's but yours looks exactly the same.

Hi, it's hard to say. It turned out that the dress was not authentic Chanel, it was a Halston Heritage dress that had a Chanel label sewn into it. However, I don't know if the label was authentic or not.

I'm fascinated by this. I didn't post because I just thought that label looked perfect but the dress didn't look like Chanel (and it totally looks like Halston Heritage LOL) and it never occurred to me that it was a switched label. I feel like an idiot. I thought OMG that's the most perfect counterfeit I've seen and it really flipped me.

Sorry OP but the dress is totally salable as Halston Heritage as long as you're absolutely 100% (that sure flies for me) and just trash the Chanel label so no one else gets done what was done to you unless you can return it but then someone else will get taken.

There was a funky 80s LA label that I always liked and I recently saw one of their old patchwork jackets with a Missoni label in it. Sewing wasn't even close but again, i know this other label. Told the store but don't think they cared.

I reposted my label in the next thread. Hopefully someone can confirm. What effort these counterfeiters must go to. Halston Heritage is great tho!

It is amazing the lengths that people will go to! Good idea about removing the tag and reselling the dress as the true brand. Luckily someone was found a link online to this dress on sale at a department store (that is how I found out it was Halston Heritage) and with that documentation the seller was willing to offer a return.

This thread is really useful! I'm looking at a Chanel now and it says 01S. I have not came across an S before - does anyone know if it stands for cruise? Cheers!
